You spend your time in places like these, is a lifetime experience one should visit here once in every year instead of going to malls, because the culture we see here is something we are going to miss in near future, although few things are not good is that the vendors, parking lot goons, almost every one of them is trying to loot the innocent worshippers. You are nearest to the god so you should be the most pure but instead they are looting the innocent worshippers. But I should admire the work of government that facilities have been increased so much in recent years. It's wonderful job did by government.

Two temples divided the flow of narmada river, what a beautiful scenery. But Here we had the worst experience ever. We had to wait for 6 to 7 hrs in the queue. And according to me this was only because of the poor management. Apart from this the view of narmada and temple is amazing..

It's one of 12 Jyotirlinga & a Devine place to visit.
I am sorry to say few facts on facility here, but need to highlight & it shall upgrade in name of Devoties who are coming here -
1. Very dirty washroom, completely unhygienic.
2. VIP darshan - in name of VIP darshan taking Rs. 500 at temple & no separate line is available like Mahakaleshwar temples.

Omkareshwar Temple is a highly revered Hindu shrine located on an island called Mandhata in the Narmada River in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, which are considered to be the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva.

The temple is known for its distinctive architectural style and its location on the picturesque island surrounded by the Narmada River. Pilgrims and tourists alike visit Omkareshwar to seek blessings and witness the spiritual and natural beauty of the area.

Legend has it that the island itself is said to be in the shape of the sacred Hindu symbol "Om", which carries great significance in Hindu philosophy. The story associated with the temple revolves around a great penance performed by a devout sage named Narada. Impressed by his devotion, Lord Shiva appeared before him and granted him a boon, leading to the establishment of the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga.

The temple complex includes other smaller shrines, ghats (steps leading to the river), and various sculptures depicting Hindu mythology. It's a place of deep spiritual significance and attracts devotees from across the country.

Omkareshwar is also known for its natural beauty, especially the scenic surroundings and the Narmada River. Pilgrims often take boat rides on the river to experience the serene environment.

Omkareshwar Temple is situated at bank of Narmada river. You need to have patience for darshan, because of long queue in the day time.

🔱Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas, which are sacred shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The history of Omkareshwar dates back to ancient times and is associated with Hindu mythology.

According to legends, once there was a great war between Devas (celestial beings) and Danavas (demons) over the possession of the Amrit Kalasha (pot of nectar). During the battle, drops of the nectar fell at various locations on Earth, and these spots became sacred pilgrimage sites known as Jyotirlingas. Omkareshwar is believed to be where Lord Shiva manifested in the form of a lingam (symbol of divine energy).

The name "Omkareshwar" is derived from the sacred syllable "Om," representing the cosmic sound, and "Ishwar," meaning Lord. The temple complex is situated on an island in the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh, India, and it is considered highly auspicious by devotees.

Over the centuries, the temple has undergone renovations and expansions, and it continues to be a significant pilgrimage site attracting devotees from various parts of the country. The historical and cultural significance of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is deeply rooted in the spiritual beliefs of the Hindu faith.🔱

One of the jyotirlinga and sacred hindu shrine. The place is very very crowded and expect the stand in the que for 3 hours and more during weekends. The crowd is badly managed inside the sanctum sanctorum. Travelled from Bhopal by road, took 3+ hours and another 1 hour with vip pass. The surrounding places are serene and try to enjoy the place for atleast 1 day with a dip in the river

Wait, the period is usually ranging between 2 to 3 hours. Be ready for pushing and pulling in line.
Advised not to take old people and small children with you as it gets very hot, inside the temple queue.
Also you wont be able to view the Linga for long time as the queue is continuously pushing and pujaris wont allow you to do any thing but have glimps of Linga.
