Great very old monument. It's a beautiful place. A must visit when you come to Ahmedabad. A big talav is there but it is barren. However municipal Corporation had allocated funds for its resurrection. It is a spiritual place due to having tomb of Ahmed Shah Khattu who was a sufi saint and a very good scholar.

When we visited Hari Ki vav , heritage step well the Imam suggested us to visit Sarkhej Roza. This is largest praying place for Muslims in world. There are tombs of three sultans of Ahmednagar, tomb of Hazarat Sarkhej who lived for 111 years and had influence on the then sultan Mohmmad Ahemadshah Begara. City of Ahemedbad is named after him. There is very large manmade lake near this heritage monument! This place is at some distance from central Ahmedabad. Regular city guided tours avoide This beautiful monument!

Beautiful masjid and peaceful place to go and explore the beauty. Please wear full pants and come with dupatta otherwise you won't be allowed inside. If you like to click photos you can go there and have some beautiful pictures over there.

A great place to visit. This is a peaceful place where the architecture is wonderful. There was hardly any one present when we went there . A compulsory place to visit in ahmedabad.

Sarkhej Roza is a mosque and tomb complex located in the village of Makarba, 7 km south-west of Ahmedabad in Gujarat state, India.

Although there are many rozas across Gujarat, the Sarkhej Roza is the most revered. Sarkhej was once a prominent centre of Sufi culture in the country, where influential Sufi saint Shaikh Ahmed Ganj Baksh lived. It was on the saint's suggestion that Sultan Ahmed Shah set up his capital on the banks of the Sabarmati, a few miles away from Sarkhej.

Like many monuments built during that period, the Sarkhej Roza fused both non-Indian and Indian principles of architecture. While the ringed domes, the profusion of pillars and brackets can be claimed to follow the Islamic west Asian genre (even though they can also be found in Indian architecture itself since much before), much of the ornamentation and motifs have Indian Hindu designs. Most of the buildings do not have arches and depend on pierced stone trellises for stability. In its architecture, Sarkhej Roza is an example of the early Islamic architectural culture of the region, which fused Islamic stylistic influences from Persia with Indian Hindu and Jain features to form a composite Indo-Saracenic architectural style. The mosque, with its courtyard, creates a religious milieu; the royal connection is made through the tombs and palaces; the great tank, platforms and pavilions were used by the common man.

The complex is called "Acropolis of Ahmedabad", due to 20th century architect Le Corbusier's comparison of this complex's design to the Acropolis of Athens.

A beautiful holy place for worship and here locals come for family picnic. A huge complex which consists of tomb and mosque on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. One can explore distinct architecture. Remove footware at entrance.

Loved to see such an old monument still standing firmly and well maintained. Just a piece of advice, try to keep some guides who can explain a bit more about the history and can also earn their livelihood. The road leading towards the monument need some signages and widening. Parking spaces are also absent

This place is a very peaceful and Islamic Historical place in Gujarat. The architecture of the complex is credited to Azam and Muazzam Khan; two Persian brothers. Although there are many Rojas across Gujarat, the Sarkhej Roza is the most revered. Sarkhej was once a prominent centre of Sufi culture in the country, where influential Sufi saint Shaikh Ahmed Ganj Baksh lived. There is a library where you can study the history of Gujarat.

A very Serene and Peaceful Place. A great example of muslim architecture and a monument of historic importance for India. The carvings are great and even today Namaz(prayer) is offered here. However it requires a little more attention from the local authorities and government can bring it in more light.
