Haflong Lake

One of the largest natural water bodies of Assam, Haflong Lake offers a variety of leisure activities, like boating. Overall I really enjoyed the place & the main thing is that there is no entry fee or something only if we do the boating activities.

Water of the lake is crystal-clear and reflect the blue skies and the surrounding hills, it has a very positive and serene atmosphere. The Lake is well-maintained, very clean and well-manicured surroundings. The lake is surrounded by a walking trail, and seating arrangement also there around the lake, for visitors .. one can relax and enjoy the beautiful views .

This lake is really one of the main attraction of haflong and there are reasons-

1.The most interesting thing is that you don't have to buy tickets to enter this amazing lake and myself as a tourist was really amazed by that because in my personal experience of traveling many of the places I've never went to a place like this lake in the middle of the main city without buying a ticket to enter. Yes, Haflong is the top G.

2. The lake has a restaurant with amazing food, an open auditorium in which one of the local said that every Saturday shows are organised.

3. The weather of Haflong make it more attractive because trust me we had checked out from our hotel in morning 11 and we had our connecting bus to guwahati at 6' O clock and we moved nowhere from this place , we sat beside the lake beneath the shadows of the trees with cool Breeze around us the whole time with a mesmerizing view of the lake and the bridge infront of us and we'd food at the restaurant which was amazing.

4. We met local people at the lake " complete strangers " we didn't know them, they didn't knew us but everyone talked to us, told us places to visit in haflong , asked about our journey, told us about themselves and each conversation last for minimum half an hour which is rare in this current time in most of the places.

This is a beautiful lake located at the heart of the Haflong Town which is at 1683 ft above sea level. This has a Hanging Bridge overpass and has beautiful surroundings. A good scenic spot, the Lake offers water sporting and boating facilities.

It is under protection of Dima Hasao Tourist/forest Department and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.
We went there early in the morning and a walk around the Lake was a beautiful experience.

It's a beautiful lake with beautiful scenic views but unfortunately is in a miserable condition. Garbage and plastics have started becoming a common sight. Proper care and timely maintenance of the lake is a due necessity which isn't undertaken from time to time.

An awesome lake. Lot of varieties of fish available. Has a hanging bridge and a lake side cafe.
Sadly subject to lot of pollution due to disposal of waste water, washing of clothes and immersion of idols.
The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council should seriously think of saving this lake.

Haflong Lake is one of the most charming and the only tourist hill destination in this northeastern Indian State of Assam. An extremely scenic spot, Haflong Lake offers various leisure water sporting activities and boating facilities. It is under protection of Dima Hasao Tourist/forest Department and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council. It is also an angling spot for fishing lovers.

The scenic beauty of the lake along with greenery and sun on the top will remind you of old Bollywood movies with a blink of eyes. It is possible because of an extra addition of Hanging bridge above the lake. This bridge will definitely let you take camera filled pictures along with your happy smile. It is also a perfect spot for a family outing and a romantic walk with your love in the cool weather of Assam hills.

The Haflong Lake is located right at the centre of the Haflong town. It is a natural lake. A hanging bridge made in steel is a latest addition to the lake. The lake is very beautiful. There is also motor driven boat facilities for visitors. The Landmark hotel and the Haflong children park are situated right beside the lake. The entry is free when we visited in the second half of December, 2021.

A must visit on every Saturday afternoon. Ethnic food and music.

Need a little cleaning and upkeep. And more awareness drive towards eco-tourism involving the locals to generate easy revenue. The Tourism Dept needs to tighten up their belt.
