It is one of the most important village railway stations, present almost in the midway between Howrah Junction & Barddhaman Junction in Chord Line. All local trains except Super Locals halt here.

This station is right in the middle of the Howrah-Barddhaman Chord line, and is of great importance to the people living in the place, because this train route is the only means of transportation. The station has 3 platforms, numbered 1 to 3, which serve all the local trains of the route. The ticket counter is built separately, and is able to manage a crowd of people in a hurry. However, queues are a rare sight here.
