... जय जय शिव शंभु ... ॐ नमः शिवाय ... जय जय शिव शंभु ... ॐ नमः शिवाय ... जय जय शिव शंभु ... ॐ नमः शिवाय ...

A beautiful and essential visit to a peaceful place. Shiva is the ruling deity, and the temple was built in the eighth century, almost 1200 years ago. Rich cultural artwork is depicted in the sculptures and buildings, which elegantly combine elements of Northern and South traditions. Even if some of the statues are broken, the complicated carvings show how intelligent, focused, and diligent the ancient artists were. The carvings are exactly the same, with not even the slightest variations.

The temple has historically sustained damage from invaders, yet its quiet and lovely atmosphere has been preserved. Its distinctive entrance heightens the attraction and makes it a must-see.

A wonderful temple with a huge Nandi bull and elaborate carvings. Despite its modest size, the temple has a lot to offer. While useful, the several lights and CCTV cameras should be positioned more covertly to maintain the temple's natural beauty. Even if the temple started to get a little crowded when we left at 2:30 pm on a Sunday, it is still a serene retreat that may be restored with some careful, gentle loving care.

Have visited this place a couple of times. Mornings in October and November are the best time. The flower farms around the temple are at full bloom adding another level of beauty. It is a great destination for cycling trip as well though advance level.
Even though invaders have damaged it the temple is serene and beautiful. The entrance to temple is unique. I will it spill the beans. Visit to see it yourself

Note: the pavement are made of black rock. They might become hot at noon and evening. Please take care of you are visiting late in the evening

Great place. Very nice place and natural view. Temple is very nice and maintained very well. Temple build on single stone and great art work. If you go inside the temple feeling very cool maybe because of the stone.

This is excellent temple near Pune. This is on small fort near Yavat. Carvings on this temple are simply beautiful. Though these are destroyed by Mughal you can witness the beauty of the same from remains. This is Yadav kalin mandir and renovation done by peshawas and many other persons from time to time. Lord Shiva is main deity of the temple and shivling is in the garbhgriha. Nandi mandap is in good condition with full of carvings. Nandi is big and decorated beautifully. Main attraction of temple is it represents "Nari shakti". You can see Lord Shiva, Ganesha, Kartikeya in the form of lady. Many other gods are also in the form of lady and carved on outer side top pannel of temple. You can witness many beautiful sculpture of ladies in various forms such as darpan Sundari, playing various instruments. On main entrance top side in bricks we can see different idols such as Sheshshai Vishnu, Ganesh idol is very different and must watch piece. We also can see few Vishnu avatar such as Kurma and Narsimha.
If you walk down on the plinth you can see old small temple of Ram Lakshman and Sita.
Ample parking is available. Now road is good though 3/4 U bend turns are difficult to drive. If you want to Marvel near Pune this is must visit place.
You can witness Mithun shilp on extreme outer wall right side on top panel near entrance door. It seems that this is fixed afterwards.
Another significant difference with other temples is on door lower side Umbara has two kirtimukh, normally temples has one kirtimukh at center.

It's a truly amazing place with an ancient charm, adorned with intricate sculptures depicting stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata. The temple's beauty lies in its detailed carvings, showcasing the rich Indian architecture and iconography of the past. Despite some wear and tear, the idols of deities and goddesses, along with motifs and dancing ladies, are a delight for the eyes. A most beautiful and a must visit serene location. Idol worshipped is Shiva. Believed to be constructed about 1200 years back (8th century). One could see a mix of culture depicted in sculptures and the architecture, from both South and Northern style. Though many statues are broken, the idols are carved in very systematic way and are par excellent, showing the brilliance, concentration and hard work by the shilpis of yesteryear. One can observe many identical carvings without even a minute difference between them. Great.

Bhuleshwar Temple, situated near Pune, stands as a testament to both the cultural resilience and architectural prowess of ancient India. Dating back to the 13th century, this temple has weathered the storms of time and history. While the specifics of its construction are not definitively documented, local legends and historical accounts suggest that the temple faced the brunt of invasions during the 15th and 16th centuries.

During this period, various Muslim invaders targeted temples as part of their military campaigns. Bhuleshwar, too, suffered the consequences of these invasions. The invaders, recognizing the strategic and symbolic importance of the temple, attempted to destroy it. However, the robustness of its construction proved to be a formidable challenge for those who sought its destruction.

The architecture of Bhuleshwar Temple is marked by its sturdy stone walls and intricately carved pillars, showcasing the craftsmanship of the artisans of that era. The temple's design, a fusion of Hindu and Islamic architectural elements, reflects the syncretic cultural ethos prevalent in medieval India.

Despite facing violent attempts at destruction, the temple's resilience prevailed. The enduring strength of its structure thwarted complete annihilation. The tales of this turbulent period echo through the temple's stones, bearing witness to a chapter in history where cultural and religious identities clashed.

The survival of Bhuleshwar Temple stands as a silent narrative of the ability of ancient Indian builders to create structures that could withstand the ravages of time and external aggression. It symbolizes not only the architectural marvels of its time but also the spirit of resilience embedded in the cultural fabric of the region. Visiting Bhuleshwar today allows one to touch, feel, and appreciate the history etched into its stones—a living testament to the endurance of human creation.

Unbelievable architecture right from the material selection to the construction.
Stone which is used for construction itself is unique which shows the ancient Indian knew very well about the knowledge of Petrology.
Every statue emits an expression which shows the extremely high skill of the builder.
The construction level and straightness of the wall shows the people must use advanced kinds of equipment for building,
Designs which are built in walls it was unbelievable how one can do in such a precise manner on such hard stone.
Unfortunately hartless and unskill mughal destroyed it but still one can visit and see the rich heritage
I was very grateful after visiting this place.

One of the best roads out of Pune led to Bhuleshwar... It is definitely a peaceful and serene temple of Mahadev..
Original temple is from the 8th century and the exterior was built later in the 12-13 century... The interior architecture and carvings are very delicate and mesmerizing... The giant nandi and beautiful garbhgriha is a sight to behold. It is a perfect place for a calming experience and family outing..
Do not miss the jaggery making units on your way to this place...

Enjoyed a pleasant road trip from Pune, covering 45 kilometers. The road was smooth, leading up to a hill. Parking at the top is limited, so it's advisable to park along the way just before reaching the summit. Discovered a beautifully constructed temple, despite historical attempts by Mughals to damage parts of it. The surroundings were peaceful, offering a nice view from the hilltop. Additionally, had the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary lunch/Prasad during the visit

Very beautiful temple. Its uphill but there’s a dirt road you can take. Photography is not allowed inside but I couldn’t resist to capture at least a section of this architecture. Very serene and peaceful. They have a big fair during Mahashivratri. And there’s a huge queue to pray lord Shiva. Rest of the time of the year it is not busy. There are lots of frangipani trees around. The sunset is a view to behold !

It’s an eerie feeling. Almost feels like looking at the God himself. Must visit if you happen to be nearby. Temple building is also very historical and feels like a time travel to the pages of history.
