Mangadu is about 20 Kms from Chennai. Goddess Parvathi as Kamakshi performed Tapas on sacred fire to reunite with Lord Shiva. Pleased with the Tapas, Lord Shiva asked Kamakshi to come to Kanchipuram to reunite through wedlock. The penance of the Goddess left behind lot of heat and discomfort to people of Mangadu. Adi Shankaracharya consecrated the Ardameru Chakra, which reduced the heat and made it comfortable for people. Devotees throng the temple to overcome obstacles and ensure weddings happen in the family. Temple Timings 5.45am to 1.30 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm on all days except Tuesday , Friday and Sunday during which temple is open from 5 am to 8.30 pm.

One of the temples around Chennai border areas, it is about 10 km from chennai Porur Junction.
Road from porur is good for travel in 2 or 4 wheeler.
Temple is very neatly maintained.
Kamakshi amman sight and blessing was Devine.

General queue has minor crowd on weekends and public holiday.
Try the Rs 50 ticket for quick darshan which will take you 10 minutes max on non festival days.

4 wheeler parking is available but for very few vehicles, Road near the temple is very narrow. Better to park about 100 meters from temple and walk.

Mangadu Kamakshi Amman Temple is a blessing to mankind. What a lovely location and peaceful atmosphere inside the temple. The deities were decorated nicely and the priests were so nice serving the god and taking good care of the devotees. Standing inside the sanctum sanctorum one can feel the overflowing spirituality and positive vibrations. Golden chariot darshan in the evening was a pleasant surprise and we have throughly enjoyed the evening! Unforgettable experience and would request everyone to visit this temple at least once in life time! 🙏

We have visited on New year day and we're waiting in the queue for almost 2 hours.Temple ll be fully crowded on auspicious days. Queue management is not good and the management can try to be more friendly with people in addressing their queries/issues. They are allowing everyone in the special dharshan ticket (Rs.50) and so it is becoming difficult for elders and kids .

BUT THE TEMPLE IS DIVINE AND IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH WAITING IN THE QUEUE FOR WORSHIPPING KAMAKSHI AMMAN.

The facilities are good. There is a nearby paid rest room too which made it easier. There is a dog that stays inside the temple, which is said to be protecting the temple.

The Kamakshi Amman Temple in Mangadu is a sacred place of worship for the devotees of the goddess Kamakshi, who is a form of Parvati, the supreme mother goddess in Shaktism. The temple has a long history that dates back to the 18th century, heard like it was built by the Pallava kings, who ruled Kanchipuram as thier capital. The temple was later renovated and expanded by multiple dynasties. The temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where the goddess is believed to reside and grant the wishes of her devotees. The goddess is also known as Kamakota Nayaki, meaning the one who bestows bliss. The temple is associated with Kanchi kamatchi temple & Adi Shankaracharya, the great Hindu saint and philosopher, who established the Sri Chakra, a mystical object in the shrine of the goddess, a prominent monastery of Hinduism.
The temple complex covers an area of about 3 acres and has two entrances from different directions. The main shrine of the goddess is located in the center, where her beautiful idol is adorned with flowers and jewels. The goddess has Saraswati, the goddess of learning, and Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, as her eyes. The temple also has a shrine for other goddess with different stories.
The temple attracts a large number of pilgrims, especially on auspicious days like Fridays and Tuesdays, when the goddess is taken out on a chariot procession. The temple also has a big pond, where rituals are performed or pilgrims can relax. There are many facilities available for the pilgrims, such as rest rooms, wheelchairs, special entry, ventilated interior, RO water provisions, and local vendor shops for pooja and devotion needs. The Kamakshi Amman Temple is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to experience the spiritual and cultural richness of Tamil Nadu You will feel the divine presence and blessings of the goddess as you explore this holy place.
