Veena Stores is an iconic breakfast spot in Bengaluru, often bustling with crowds in the mornings. While there's a single counter for ordering, self-ordering kiosks add convenience. The Idli and Vada are exceptional, among the best in Bengaluru, and the Filter Coffee is a must-try. Other menu highlights like Puliyogare and Shvige Bath also impress. However, seating is limited and parking for four-wheelers is unavailable. Despite this, Veena Stores offers great value for money, making it a must-visit for breakfast enthusiasts.

One of the OG tiffin places of Bangalore. Definitely try the idli vada, shavige bath chow chow bath and one nice filter coffee. It’s super crowded by 8 am but they have a great system to manage the queue. It’ll be tough to stand outside the restaurant and eat but you can cross the road and find a spot in the complex

First thing first....this place doesn't serve dosae at all.
Although a very small place, they function at a different efficiency level.
Hot piping food every time u order an idly or Vada.
Chutney is superb with the right amount of spiciness.
Go early on weekends..order ur food n have it in the sitting area. The place is small n always crowded.
Don't expect a top class vibe or ambience...just go n enjoy the nice food.

My top Must haves - idly, Vada, shavige bhat ,chow chow bhat, upite n coffee.

P.S : The coffee could have been better.

One of the legacy hotels of Bangalore. We visited on a chilly sunny morning, brilliant brilliant taste, great quality food.
If it’s crowded, there is no place to sit inside the hotel, but you can stand and eat, or sit nearby the restaurant if the shops are closed.
It’s totally worth tasting Veena stores food! ❤
Their bisi bele Baat is toooo good.
Khara baath is very good.
One must know - there is no masala dosa here.

Very old place, local Bengalurians fav place. Idly & Vada and Kara bath must try. Difficult to find a place to sit, but standing and eating is a maja at this place. Self ordering kios is making life easy

Idli chutney is yummy 😋

Must try Items:
Idli, Vada, Sweet pongal, Shavige bath, Kesari bath.

Chutney is yummy, they serve unlimited chutney which can be self served.

The renovated hotel is too good. It even has seating, but like darshini.

They have an automatic billing machine so no more waiting.

Service is quick.

Great breakfast place to visit with friends and family(If they are ok with darshini).

The first thing that came to my mind after trying out the idly here was that why did I even miss this place for this long being a Bangalorian.
Hands down, it's my favourite.
A special mention to the best spicy chutney that they serve. Vada was also crispy.
I felt Puliyogare was above average, but with the chutney it tasted better.
Bisi Bele Bath was very good.
Even though the prices are little on the higher side, the quality/taste they provide is great!

Living in Bengaluru and particularly Malleswaram, you cannot miss the allure of Veena Stores. Presently managed by Shri. Pradeep, the quaint palette friendly eatery has been around for close to five decades (46 years).

I have seen Veena stores grow from a small shop front right next to a MRF showroom to its current bigger redesigned space. I am amazed to say that the owner has maintained the same quality and service over time. Those of the patrons who are regulars can be seen frequently interacting with Shri Pradeep outside the store.

The restaurant opens promptly on weekdays and Saturdays around 7 AM. Stays open from 3:30 till 9 in the afternoon. Sundays the restaurant is open in the morning and closes by noon. You can find parking in the side streets without any issues. If you are coming from near to Malleswaram, I would however recommend you come by Uber or Auto and visit the place.

I personally liked the Idly and Vada with green mint Chutney served over here. Watching the staff take out the piping hot idlis and serve it right to your eco friendly plate is a delight to watch. You can take your plate of idlis and get served the fresh chutney next to the counter.

On days when it is not crowded, you will be able to conveniently sit inside the restaurant and eat your "Thindi" (tiffin or light meal). Veena stores is also famous for their chow chow bath and I had a chance to enjoy this dish as well. This is equal parts of the Kesari bath (sweet semolina dish) and Kara bath (spicy semolina dish). I remember back in the '90s taking all of the wonderful breakfast items from here to my office to the delight of my colleagues. During my recent visit, I had the opportunity to meet with Shri Pradeep and reminiscence those days of enjoying breakfast standing in the street).

I'm glad that this iconic eatery has been able to maintain it's quality and consistency. Some of the other wonderful items that I tried include the Bise Bele bath and Godhi sweet dish (Kothumai in Tamil) (Wheat dish). Lastly, has some nice coffee to complete the breakfast visit to Veena Stores. The Bisi Bele bath served with some kara boondi/mixture can be spicy for some. Recommend you get some oil or ghee to temper the spice level or have water handy.

Overall an amazing experience. I highly recommend Veena Stores for some authentic Karnataka foodie experience. Don't miss this place during your Bengaluru visit!

Very famous and old place to have South Indian food. Earlier it was in a small place now they have expanded the place and have few seats to sit. It is self service place with sitting arrangements.

Recommend: Idly vade chow chow bath. They also have Shavige bath and Bisibele bath to try. And hot strong coffee to end.

Absolutely worth it, the softest Idly's we ever had! The chutney is also very tasty. When you take a bite it just melts like butter.
There are many other options available on the menu as well but some of them sell out very quickly. The best recommended option is Idly Vada chutney. And the coffee as well.

Came to this famous place in malleshwaram on a Saturday morning at around 8:15 am. Tried their soft idlies with chutney and it was really amazing. Costed me just 35 INR for a plate having two pieces. Didn't get time to try their puliogare and other dishes. It is totally worth it. There is a small seating area too, luckily it wasn't that crowded when I visited. They also got an electronic kiosk for ordering.

Residing in Malleswaram, Bangalore, I highly recommend Veena Store for its exceptional food quality. The Bisi Bele Bath is a must-try, offering a taste reminiscent of a homemade meal.

The most delicious idly chutney one could ever have. Idly is something you can die for. We tried Idli, Vada, chow chow bath, khara bath ,shavege bath, tea and coffee over here and believe me each and every is worth the Veena Store hype. Fully packed on weekends. Recommended to visit on weekdays.
Must visit to complete the Bangalore check list. ✅ A glimpse of it on Saturday Morning 🌞.

Bengaluru is obsessed with the tiffin ( idly / wada chutney/ kara baat etc) culture and few places come to mind, who have stood the test of time.
People flock to these places like a cult, Bengaluru is exploding with global food scene but this place with its comfort food will always have a place in Bangalorians heart.

Veena, there is nothing I did not like about this place. Wada chutney is to die for, wada fried to crispy perfection, chutney taking the flavor to the next level. Kara baat, pongal, idly chutney, coffee, it is like Messi Ronaldo mbape playing in one soccer team. One dish is superior than the previous one you tried.

Such a memorable dinner and it didn’t even have a small dent in my pocket. Extremely reasonable prices, must try in Bangalore.

Veena Stores is a famous yet hidden gem in the heart of Malleshwaram. The restaurant is small but cozy and has a great ambiance. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the service is excellent. They've been in business since 1977 and the taste is still the same unique, amazing and mouthwatering one.
The food is simply amazing! I highly recommend trying their Idli, Vada, Khara Bhath, Kesari, bisibele and Shavige Bhath.
They are the best in business! The flavors are authentic and the dishes are cooked perfectly. The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The restaurant also offers home delivery on swiggy which is very convenient.
They only use eco-friendly packing and serving meterials that is a great thought
All in all, Veena Stores is a must-visit place for anyone who loves South Indian snacks.
