I spent around two hours here and felt very good and peaceful. Seriously such a spritual place and a different type of positive energy.
This was built by the  Chand Dynasty. Baleshwar temple is marvelous symbol of stone carving. It is believed to have been built in 1390 AD by Garud Gyan Chand.
Walking distance 450m from Champawat bus station or main Market.
Highly recommended ✅

The temple is a hidden gem. It has so many intricate carvings on it. I wish it had someone who explain the carvings on the temple. It has a hanuman mandir adjacent to it. The beat time to visit here is early morning, probably you would be the only person here and can have time exploring and trying to figure out the carvings on the temple. It is well connected to the main champawat stand. Walking distance from there, hidden into a small street (gully)

If you are crossing chamapwat you must stay here for few minutes. Very ancient temple located in the hustle of town. ASI should have conserved it years before.

Very beautiful temple restored by ASI. The art is magnificent. Many of the statues and temples were broken by antisocial people but still maintained well. If you really want to see your roots then a must visit place.

Very spiritual experience, loved it. But the state and central government also the local authorities need to pay attention on the condition. Lot of renovation required but keeping the not at the cost of destroying the artifacts. Our heritage which should be conserved is lying in open, rain and sunlight are destroying it. Preservation attempts are required asap

Baleshwar Temple is a stunning example of stone carving and South Indian architecture, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located in Champawat, the ancient capital of the Chand dynasty, this temple dates back to the 10th-12th centuries AD. The temple complex also houses two other shrines for Ratneshwar and Champawati Durga. The temple is a national heritage monument and a place of religious and cultural significance for Uttarakhand.

Admist the main city of Champawat is the historical “Baleshwar Temple”. Built by the rulers of Chand Dynasty, Baleshwar Temple is a marvelous symbol of stone carving. There isn’t any historical manuscript that dates the Baleshwar temple, however it is believed to be built between 10 – 12 century A.D.
