Nice hostel, excellent location. I stayed in December, the woolen blanket felt a bit prickly but I wasn't cold. The water temperature in the shower varies from cold to icy cold, even if you turn it on for ten minutes. Staff didn't go out of their way like at some other Italian hostels, but they were nice. Location is perfect. The rooms are huge and the beds quite private. Good place to stay.
This was my first solo hostel stay experience. The location of Academy Hostel is fantastic, you really are in the centre of town surrounded by cathedrals (if you're a light sleeper like me, I might suggest bringing ear plugs.) As I visited during winter, there were fewer guests and it was a little harder to spark conversation in the communal couch area, but I suspect this would be easier in summer. The rooms were basic, clean and comfortable and I very much appreciated the help and hospitality of the staff with my requests.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and was incredibly grateful for the amazing service of all three hosts who assisted my queries (and mishaps!). Thanks so much Academy Hostel!This hostel is absolutely superb, the staff are friendly, helpful, full of local knowledge and go the extra mile. The facilities are cleaned daily, rooms are spacious, air conditioned, large lockers for the bigger backpacks, free wireless internet in the lounge with some computers also connected to the internet, with a large screen TV (which was popular most evenings)

Breakfast is good and a real bonus is a 6.30pm snack, which can range from pizza to some lovingly prepared sandwiches.

The hostel is closed off everyday between 11am and 2pm for cleaning but the owners are very flexible on that rule, just inform them first if you need to get some stuff done, but anyway at that time you should be exploring the wonderful city of Florence.

It's location is in the heart of Florence and it's an easy walk to get anywhere but it's on a side street, right opposite the Duomo, grab a free map from the tourist information office or a cheap one from a newsagent as you may miss it when following the directions to get there.

At night and weekends, they'res secured doors at the entrance, it just gives any traveller the feeling of more security, I only had to wait a couple of seconds for the door to be buzzed.

I stayed in a 4 bed mixed and moved to 5 bed mixed and had no complaints whatsoever - of course reviews like this and the ones below makes this a popular place to stay, I don't think there was one day when this place wasn't fully booked - book early.

My both kids born here. Dr.Bhuvaneshwari and his husband are very good experienced. Shiny sister is also well experienced other nurses doing good job. I am very happy in the delivery services. Second delivery here with completely by medi assist insurance. And coming to room facilities, neat Ness should be little improved, lots of mosquitos in room. Need to arrange mosquito meshes for windows. And also need to have atleast 3 well experienced nurses like shiny. Admin staff not quite receiving and caring. Need to give some training classes on hospitality for admin ladies.
