Kamnath Mahadev - Navnath

One of the nine Shiv temples built by his great Sir Sayajirao Gaikwad. A very old place on the river bank of Vishwamitra behind Sayajibaug zoo. Entrance might be a bit tricky if you're travelling by car, but no issue with 2 wheelers. One will feel peace, Kamnath Mahadevji is there to fulfill all of our good wishes if we worship with goodwill.

Very Old Temple of Lord Shiva situated in centre place if Vadodara..Not maintained very well..only main temple is good. Rest of the temple is not maintained properly..Worth visit with family and friends..

Temple is located near the Bal bhavan, sayaji baug. Road leading to temple is narrow. You have to park your car far from the temple. Garbhgriha of the temple is in the basement. One can offer milk and water on Shivling during Navnath temple visit.

Kamnath Mahadev Temple is loacated just behind the Ghats of Vishwamitri River passing nearby from Sayaji Baug (Kamati Baug). The Temple was built in early 19th Century and consists of 8 Decorative Idols which is in position of playing musical instruments. A Statue of Lord Hanuman with Anjani Devi and a Musical Instrument from Muslim World ‘Dilruba’ catches special Attention.
In Early Decades of the 20th century, thousands of devotees to the temple used to bath on the ferry. The temple is also famous for it Designs and Decorations with centers of religious faith.
There is Lion statue at peaks of all Three temples. The temple has Decorated Idols of AshtaDigpal, Vyaal on each side. Also there are small peaks on Peaks of Temples. The outer appearance of the temples is also too attractive.
During the Rule of Maharaja Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad during Years 1778 – 1798, this area was developed quickly. It is also said that Members of the Royal Family used to come here for Prayers.

Wow! It was an amazing temple with a river aside vishvamitri the temple is like mystry in itself cause there are some hidden caves also and all those things are still unexplored. Also the temple complex is being surrounded by the locality who encroaches most of the temples. I request vadodara corporation to please do something to preserve our heritage. Jai shree ram.
