Theppam is one of the oldest way of storing water for entire town. It serves the purpose well during summer.

A drinking water facility developed by our fore fathers . In olden days virudhunagar and surrounding villages are arid zones and rainy season is so short that there is always a shortage for drinking water. Rain water harvesting is implemented here and water is stored almost in full year, and a tube system delivers excess water from nearby kanmais.

It is an artificial one constructed by ancient people of Virudhunagar ( Birth Place of Former golden Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Sri.K.Kamarajar) to avoid drought. Super planning.It collects the rain water and from the near river water is pumped into it. It improves the ground water level. Kamarajr memorial is just nearby this teppem

Good place for walking in early morning and can have Vada and coffee around this place. During evening/night you can explore different varieties of snacks and dinner, since multiple shops are available in this place.

Clean and hygienically maintained by the Virudhunagar Trust. Hats off to the Board. There is no word to appreciate them for maintaining the full level of water at all times.

Local people and shops situated around the theppam divert the rain water to the theppam. Hence water source for the town has increased to a great level. Good work by the people.
