Our delightful one-night stay at Chameli Memsaab Bungalow was a journey back in time to the heart of Jorhat's rich tea culture. Situated in a venerable tea garden, this bungalow isn't just a hidden gem; it's a cherished, historic haven.

Managed by the ever-helpful Pankaj, our experience was marked by the seamless blend of vintage allure and contemporary comfort. The bungalow, with its ageless architecture, echoed tales of the region's tea heritage while providing all the modern amenities for a comfortable stay.

What truly sets Chameli Memsaab Bungalow apart is its longstanding popularity. It's not merely a hidden gem; it's a well-known treasure, with each corner telling stories of the tea industry's legacy. The lush greenery surrounding the bungalow only added to the sense of timelessness.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Pankaj and the dedicated team for preserving the essence of this historic bungalow. If you seek not just a stay but an immersion into the history of Jorhat's tea gardens, Chameli Memsaab Bungalow is the perfect destination. A stay here is more than accommodation; it's a journey through time.

I was traveling alone and as a solo female traveler, I felt very comfortable and safe. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They helped me with planning my day trip to Gibbon Sanctuary. Food is delicious and their chai is super tasty. Rooms are very spacious and big enough for 4. The place is very peaceful. Only minor suggestion is, furnishings are a bit old and need a good scrubbing/cleaning or replacement.

The White Bungalow, aka the gateway to a tea-rrific time! ☕🍪

Folks, let me spill the tea (pun intended) on this hidden gem. So, picture this: you stroll up to the White Bungalow, and the manager's like, "Hey there, it's 200 bucks to enter this slice of tea paradise!" At first, you might wonder if it's a ticket to a magical tea-themed theme park, and trust me, it's almost that good.

You hand over the cash, feeling like a high-rolling tea enthusiast, and boom! The gates swing open, and you're in! 🎉 Cue the confetti, because you've just invested in a day of unparalleled relaxation and sippin' satisfaction.

The bungalow itself is like something out of a British countryside fairy tale. The tea estate vibes are so strong that I half-expected Mr. Darcy to stroll by with a cuppa in hand. 🍃🏰

But wait, there's more! Your Rs 200 fortune gets you access not just to this charming abode, but to a cup of liquid gold – the freshest tea your taste buds will ever meet. And as if that wasn't sweet enough, they toss in a biscuit too! Talk about value for money – my taste buds are still sending me thank-you notes.

So, if you're feeling fancy and ready to embrace your inner tea connoisseur, grab your wallet, bring your tea-loving squad, and head over to the White Bungalow. It's like a spa day for your soul, but instead of cucumber slices, you've got lush tea leaves soothing your senses.

Cheers to Rs 200 well spent, to tea leaves as far as the eye can see, and to a manager who's nailing the art of making an entrance fee taste as sweet as a cup of sugared tea. Bravo, White Bungalow, bravo!

This place is truly amazing. One of the best places I have visited in jorhat so far. The location plus scenery of this place is majestic. Very old and big trees surrounds this area from all the corners. The property is well maintained and very clean. There is a garden in front the house. The main highlight of this property is the old villa, which has its own aesthetics and glamour. Wooden curved floor, white painted walls of this villa tells its own story. Me and my friends really have a great time staying there. There are lots sitting area for guests and roaming places for children. For lunch you have to call for advanced booking, otherwise you wont be able to have lunch or dinner in this place, for that they have provided a phone number for advanced booking in their google map web page. Food is like home cooking, really delicious and served with love and outmost caring. They charged 500/- per person for lunch and dinner. They also arranged marriage parties and birthday parties after consultation. The manager informed us that they also have 4-5 guest rooms for staying purposes. Rooms are big , specious , clean and well maintained. The ambience of the staff is very good. If you looking for a warm cozy and a valuable time your friends and family , give it a try you won't regret it.

Peaceful place. Everyone can enjoy the beautiful atmosphere of the heritage buliding. The architectural value of the colonial tea planters has flourished here🌿

The old British colonial bungalow once belonging to Cinnamara Tea Estate now converted to homestay under Bokahola Tea Estate is a perfect place to stay in a heritage bungalow with old style glass windows, red cemented floor and lush garden with old trees.
The bungalow named "Chameli Memsaab" adds a nostalgic aura of the shooting of the famous Assamese 1975 film " Chameli Memsaab"

The British way of partying with ample amount of parking space. A few streetlights at the entrance would have been better.

The exhilarating experience of staying in heritage bungalows resided earlier by the British colonial rulers amidst the evergreen tea gardens. We bring you a list of six such properties in Assam.

Chameli Memsaheb Bungalow, Cinnamora Tea Estate

Set up by first Indian commercial tea planter Maniram Dewan, Cinnamara will complete 175 years in 2018 is now owned by the Assam Tea Corporation Limited (ATCL), still houses the graveyard of the freedom fighter, which died at the gallows. Cinnamara and Senglung tea estates were started by Dewan between 1843 and 1845 after he resigned from the post of dewan, land agent and chief executive, of India’s first tea company, the Assam Company.  Although Cinnamara still exists, Senglung got lost in time and there were no records available about the garden, till Pradip Baruah, a tea expert undertaking research on Assam tea on behalf of TeaVision, an NGO, discovered the tea estate a couple of years back in Sivasagar district.

History has it that Cinnamara was confiscated by the British and auctioned off soon after the execution of Dewan in 1858 for his role in the freedom struggle. British tea company George Williamson purchased the two estates. However, they fell on bad times as the laborers refused to cooperate with the new owner. They remained loyal to Maniram Dewan, forcing the company to part with them.Cinnamara tea estate was taken over by Jorehaut Tea Company and developed later.
