Andaman Public Works Department is the prime construction organisation of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration. This Department was set up in 1957 with a single Division level establishment. Shri. N. N. Lyengar, is the first Principal Engineer started functioning as Head of Department with effect form 1st July, 1957. Since then the Department has brought sea changes in the construction activities in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This Department has been mainly entrusted with the work of providing infrastructural support for the people Andaman and Nicobar Islands and other Departments functioning under the Andaman and Nicobar Administration as well as the Departments functioning under Ministries and autonomous bodies. This Department is serving for the people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands by providing drinking water Supply, Roads, Bridges and Housing etc. APWD undertakes constructions and Maintenance of residential and Office accommodation for various departments under Andaman and Nicobar Administration as well as building for Hospitals, Health Centres, Schools, colleges, Libraries, Play Grounds, Stadiums etc.

It's a government guesthouse. Any one can book it from the apwd office near Bengali club, Andaman. The guest house is very neat n clean. In Neil island there is three rooms. All room are well spaced, furnished,ac room,gyser is available. Room rent is 1000 rs plus 12%gst for per room. Meal is also available. Staff are well behaved.guest house is near the jetty ghat,beside hawyabill guest house.

I don't understand people rating this place like five stars and writing "Nice Place" & even asking for room tariffs (how shallow).

Well let me tell you how this place works.
1. You go to a officer concerned for some signatures.
2. Get it done quickly and oh ! Let's not forget about derogatory peons out there who are self acclaimed "Babus"

3. By the time you reach the chamber of the concerned, she has already left for therapy (at 10'o clock in the morning).

This was after biometric attendance were introduced.
