This temple was constructed by Agraharikas Sri Devulapalli Rama Murthy Sastri (founder & Trustee) as goddess Sri Kotasattemma Ammavaru manifested in his dream & asked to construct temple.

The idol was found in his farm during ploughing in 1934. The idol of Kotasattemma was immersed by several calamities during the Reddy dynasty.

It is known as the goddess originally protecting Chalukya Veerabadhra's (the king of Niravadyapuram (present day of Nidadavolu), the spouse of Rudrama Devi) forte.
