The whole mountain of Umga situated in the Aurangabad district of Bihar is filled with surprising elements. From time to time many historians came to this mountain and gave different theories about the origin of the temples built here.

It is believed that there were 52 temples initially but some of them got demolished over time and some by the invaders.

Now there are about 5-6 temples left in good condition. One can still find so many ruins of temples and other structures all over the mountain.

The main temple of Umga called the Sun Temple is still standing in a dilapidated condition following the rules of the Nagara style.

As per the first inscription discovered by Markham Kittoe in 1847 the main Umga temple was built in 1496 by Bhairavendra. But the other ruins and idols indicate that it's way older than we think.

There is a temple in a U-shaped cave 500 meters from the main Umga temple, known as the Umangeshwari cave temple. The deity Umangeshwari is believed that represents pre-Aryan tradition.

Some historians also believe that the Umga was a factory where temples were made by rock-cut techniques. One can still find the rocks dispersed all over the mountain containing archaeological proof.

If you want to have some good picture with nature, mountain it's good place to visit. You also get a chance to do worship there as temple is there. There is four tier so on their one you will see one temple, on level two there is one more God. It's assumed that there is one shivling if you will hug him fully and desire something it will be fulfill.

Very old Sun Temple similar to Dev Sun Temple. This Temple is situated on Hills. The place is usually very quite and you can trek through the hills. Many small temples though not in good condition can be found on the hills.

A beautiful sun temple on a hill. Halfway up the hill is temple where sun is flanked by ganesh and bhairav. Further on top of hill is Uma and Martand Bhairav shrine undeneath a rock in cave like structure. On the way you will see a huge shivling and ganesh statue in small temples. Hill commands magnificent views all around. A slightly tiring climb but rewarding.

A lesser known Surya Mandir🙏 in Madanpur,near Aurangabad Bihar. One needs to climb 150 stairs approx. Beauty of Sanatan Dharma in form of idols sculpted out of stones at it's best. Idols of Lord Surya,Lord Ganesha and Lord Kaal Bhairav in the garbhgrih. Om Ghrini Suryaye Namah🙏

This Is Most Beautiful, Clean and Greeny Place. This place is famous For Very big Sun Temple Available On The Pahad . Name Of That Pahad is Umga. This place is very crowded in chhath puja. I enjoys lots here. And One Maa Devi Temple is Also On Top Of Pahad. You much visit this Place One time in life.

An awesome place for meditation.

The area and stairs are clean comparedto standards maintained in other near by area. Overall a very good place to visit with family and kids. Kids will enjoy going on clean and wide stairs. There are very good pani puri stalls just outside get of umga temple.

Ancient shiv temple on a hill, though easily reachable on foot by not very high stone stairs. Visible from the highway and around one kilometer far from the main road. A large mela is also organised on lord shiv's festivals.
