Scandal Point is located towards the western side of the Ridge, Shimla, where two of the city's main roads , the Mall road and the ridge road converges. It is a famous address in a famous city and among the must visit spots for tourists. This point has a status of one of our leading freedom fighter, Lala Lajpat Rai. One of the most prominent point on the Ridge.

Location: Easy to reach, walk down from the top of the Ridge.

The name "Scandal Point" originated from a scandal involving the British Viceroy of India, Lord Kitchener, and a local woman. It has since become a famous tourist spot, known for its scenic beauty and historical significance.

You won’t feel like in India by looking at the buildings at scandal point when you are Shimla. Don’t get confused if driver tells you they are also going to cover the this point separately since it is next to The Ridge. You have to follow the same route. Just keep walking because vehicles are not allowed here.

Known as scandal point because Maharaja Patiala eloped with the Viceroys daughter and caused a lot of commotion in this area. Still reminiscent of the british era Shimla, buildings & the vibe still takes you back in time. Must visit for anyone travelling to shimla. Good old classic shimla restaurants here too like Alpha and Beekays.

It's a beautiful structure. Feel like you are in a heritage site. Shops and restaurants are here and there. Lovely experience.

It is the point where the Mall, the route to the Ridge and that to the GPO meet. It is regarded by many to have got its name from where an erstwhile Maharaja of Patiala carried off a British Commander-in-Chief's daughter. While Bhupinder Singh, the Maharaja in question, is known to have cut a finger that was more than dashing, it is unlikely that the Maharaja or the lady would have been out on the streets airing their love.

A central point, a hangout place, a cluster of beautiful structures, and a place to wander off to: 1) the famous Ridge, Christ Church and the British era Library. 2) the Mall Road, and 3) Kali Bari road for the Kali Bari Mandir, Bantony Castle Museum and light & sound show, and the historic Shimla GPO (General Post Office).

Great place for evening walk.... Restaurants are bit expensive but most have good variety of dishes... Only problem is no attractions for couples this place need some attraction for couple.

It was nice to see such a beautiful architectural building.
Despite the passage of time, it was well preserved, so I couldn't hide my surprise.
At that time, I felt like I was experiencing a little bit of that era.

If anyone wants to walk for a few kms. Do visit Advance Study Shimla and go there by walk from Scandal Point. It's almost 3kms away from Scandal but I personally just love the path till Advance Study.

Beautiful place in Shimla City

Shimla Town. Your journey to Shimla is incomplete if you do not visit this point. This place connects the Mall and the Ridge. A walk for about 20 to 30 minutes is enough to have the feel of the place. This is non vehicular Zone. Which adds importance to it.
