It's best place to stay in shimla to Govt Employees. It's located near to Mall Road. Distance from railway station is around 1km and take around 20 minutes to climb up by foot as it's located in no vehicle zone.

It is located near to mall road but there is no cab available to go here from railway station. Due to hilly areas, you will feel choked on the way to hotel with bag but distance is not far from railway station. Hotel is very good in this price range. Rooms have ample of space. Restaurant also available on ground floor. Scene from balcony is awesome.

Hotel is situated on mall road. View from hotel is amazing. Rooms are neat and clean . Food is amazing. Hotel is walking distance from railway station. if u r going to stay in this hotel. Try rooms onwards 80 number. Below 80 rooms r in older building. 80 onwards view is amazing. Room size Is gud.

Pros: -
1. Cheapest hotel in Shimla but not for all.
2. Rooms are very spacious.. Wooden flooring gives the room a classic look. You get 2 rooms, a balcony and large bathroom in just ₹ 300(repeat only ₹ 300/-)
3. In the heartland of Shimla.. Almost walking distance from Mall road..
4. Facility of Restaurant within the hotel complex.

Cons: -
1. No room service at all. Even most of the time room landlines are not working
2. No vehicles are allowed in the vicinity of the hotel.. You have to cover some distance by walk.Matter of concern if you have heavy luggage or accompanied by old age people
3. Restaurant has very less menu. And more importantly they don't provide room delivery..

Overall.. Make your decision as per your priority.. Good luck and enjoy your stay. But personally I loved my 3- day stay at the hotel because I needed it only for rest at night.. Also I didn't use the restaurant in the hotel because of so many good hotels in nearby Mall Road. Thank you

The name reflect the place really Grand Hotel. Location wise in the heart of Shimla. Good Service and spacious rooms. Really Grand....

Probably one of the best places to stay in Shimla although it is restricted to government employees only. It has excellent views with an excellent weather all the time. The rooms are large with even larger bathrooms. The whole hotel is British styled since it was built but the British and that's why it has massive rooms also with a long balcony. Although getting to the hotel requires a Little bit uphill walk from the station. A canteen is available which provides good quality food although Veg only. Staying here is highly recommended if you are visiting Shimla and if any your friends work in government sector.

the grand hotel hmm its really grand. I booked double bedroom this time instead of four bedded room. location very near to mall road just 5 to 7 min walk (road going side of the indian post from scandal point). It is near to Kali bari temple also, just 5 min walk. wooden floor, spacious rooms and spacious washrooms, canteen is working now which is beautiful and spacious too, you will find big LED, carom board and table tannis board. views from here are awesome. it is beautiful and cheap. dont think of high quality facelities.

Well maintained. Clean. Equipped with automatic lighting system. Water heater/geyser available. Room heaters are available. If you are single, you can stay in dormitory which is affordable yet good and you can book a bed almost instantly. Room booking is only through online through holidayhomes.nic.in. 2-bed room is currently Rs 300 per day. Dormitory bed is at Rs 150 per day.

The Place is beautiful and the area around it too.

Visited with my family and unfortunately we got the top floor room. But the view from that floor was all worthy. Shimla is really beautiful and the Grand Hotel too.
It was under renovation at that time, so not much on that, but yes the resturant is great, it is of Bikano's , you can order food from your room too with some minimal surcharges.

They have a greenhouse too. there are always some Kuli's there to help you up down your luggage.

Best budget hotel for Govt./PSU employees in Shimla. It has huge rooms and bathrooms. Very good location near the Kali mandir and the Ridge to roam around. There are few problems here: 1. Too many monkeys, 2. No room service and 3. Vehicles are not allowed in the Mall road. So best way to reach the hotel is to reach the mall road through the Lift (Rs. 10/- per head) near old bus stand and then walking a distance about 1km through the Mall road.

Staff: need to be friendly and welcoming.

Wonderful place to stay for Government employees only for Rs.300 for double bed room and Rs.400 for 4 beded room with wooden floor, with proper cleanliness and above all its location which is itself at Mall road Shimla

Ill maintained rooms and low quality of food. Still a five star rating because of low cost of stay, best views, heritage structure and nearness to the Mall

The rooms are spacious and clean and the room service is very prompt. The staff is polite and always ready to help. We had booked Mayo Suite and it was good for family stay.

It's very close to The Ridge and is probably the best place to stay at Shimla. The place has a long history and the structure is reminiscent of old English buildings. Only con is that it's currently open only to government servants.
