Visited this First time in 2007 and Again in 2024 after a Gap if 17 years ,
Fortunately it's still a Pristine Jungle with lesser facilities and amenities.
Semadoh is by far the most beautiful part of Melghat , Shahnoor , Harisal are also worthy .
Ask for Bhola Mawaskar at Semadoh he is A Best Guide and Driver you shall find.

Amazing place !!! Kolkas gate is one of the best place to spend your weekend time in forest... you can do Elephant safari and Gypsy Safari over there... accomodation is available by forest dept on reasonable price....only you need to note that there is no network of any service provider so ensure you have given your update to your near one before reaching there..

Truly beautiful 👌🏻❤jungle..very sense and rich in Flora.
Has lot of water through the year, mainly by catchment, and also bcos of the jungle staff ensuring supply via natural ponds on hill top.
Bison,Sambhar,spotted deer aplenty...
Spotting the great 3 of melghat,Tiger leopard and bear is difficult in post monsoon season, although night safaris generally result in sure success..and hence recommended.
The new guides r local village folk, and show no interest in explaining or wilfully directing the vehicle for sighting.seem least interested, and it's left to self questioning and short answers.
The local accomodations provided on website,r not maintained at all and it's a pity, considering the splendidly placed location and infra available.Shoddy bathrooms, and total neglect.
When power outage occurs, there is no diesel to power generators, and no effort by staff to get things working.forest guard is just sleeping all the time, never checking and maintaining staff and property.
All in all takes away the fun of jungle 🐅🐆🦌safari.
Restaurant food is good, however menu has to be updated early or May not be available, also night staff is sometimes absent and hence no early tea.
Scope for lot of improvement,as this is a major jungle in Maharashtra.
Beautiful forest 👌🏻♥

Amazing. And even better in the monsoons. Just heavenly and peaceful - right in the bosom of mother nature to rejuvenate/recharge with the local tribal and village community, habitat, animals, birds, insects - every single thing. Wonderful experience and great facilities that don't or can't dent your wallet.

While Melghat is good is famous for tigers, don't come here with expectations of seeing tigers easily, the forest is really big and number of tigers available are less so you have to be really lucky to spot tigers. However, Melghat has amazing Safari track in which can spot other animals like Deer, Mongoose, Indian Gaur and different birds like Fly Catcher, Kingfisher, Serpent Eagle, Hawk Eagle and etc. Good time to do Safari is early morning starting 5 am when chances to spot animals are very high. Overall a really good place.

Melghat tiger reserve is located in the Amaravati district of Maharashtra. Vairat jungle safari , kolkaz jungle safari, semahdoh jungle safari are the jungle safaris you can explore with forests open jypsy ( including guide). Melghat Tiger Reserve is located on southern offshoot of the Satpura Hill Range in Central India, called Gavilgarh hill in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The nearest air port is Nagpur which is about 255 kms. At the northern extreme of the Amravati district of Maharashtra, on the border of Madhya Pradesh, lies the Melghat in the South-Western Satpura mountain ranges. Melghat means 'meeting of the ghats', which describes the area as a large tract of unending hills and ravines scarred by jagged cliffs and steep climbs. The Melghat was declared a tiger reserve in 1974. Presently, the total area of the reserve is around 2768.52 km2. The forest is tropical dry deciduous in nature, dominated by teak (Tectona grandis). The reserve is a catchment area for five major rivers: the Khandu, Khapra, Sipna, Gadga and Dolar, all of which are tributaries of the river Tapti. Many different kinds of wildlife, both flora and fauna, are found here

Melghat Tiger Reserve offers a breathtaking wilderness experience! Nestled in Maharashtra's Amaravati district, it boasts diverse flora and fauna. Tigers roam freely amidst lush valleys. Sloth bears, leopards, and Indian Gaurs add to the enchantment. Stay options, though basic, blend well with the forest ambiance. Don't miss the monsoon for unparalleled vistas. An unforgettable escape for nature enthusiasts!

Tiger Project is started in the year 1973 at Melghat. Large area of the forest is covered under this project. The area of this Tiger Project is spread from Narnala Fort up to Dhakana, Semadhoh, Raipur, Doma. The 25kms long road , from Chikhaldara to Semadhoh is going through the deep and dense forest. We can feel fresh, when we just go through that way . We can see wild animals like Peacock, Dear, Wolf, Pig Gourus etc. when we go through that way.
The Tiger Project Resort is situated at semadhoh. At very chipest rate it is available for tourism. The Musiam is at resort. The slide show on the wild animal is available there. There is a arrangement of mini bus on 4'o clock in the evining and on 5'o clock in the morning for wondering inside the reserved area of the forest. You have to pay some money for this mini bus. In this reserved area of forest we can see the various wild animal like Leopard, Tiger, Beer, Wild Buffelo, Deer, Wolf, Snakes and various Birds.

Many forest animals are here, if you are lucky enough then will get chance to see them even from your car. Hill road was amazing, feels like travelling over clouds. Awesome nature..!! Must visit this place. 90 km from Amravati. The best place I visit till date 😃 but sure recommend time to visit is from July to September in rainy season it will be more beautiful & joyful. Magnificent green MELGHAT & NARNALA..Till date you will get a taste of real virgin forest and glimpse of wildlife.

Kolkas bungalow is the best option to stay inside the jungle. After about 40 to 45 km, real forest starts. When we entered the forest in an open jeep, we felt as if we are in a fridge we saw many birds and animals in the forest except tiger.

Good time to do Safari is early morning starting 5 am when chances to spot animals are very high. Overall a really very good place....!

Mother Earth at her peak, beautiful, covered in lush green blanket, reminding us, don't go any further, this is The Heaven. Streams everywhere. Chripping of the birds and at times the entire place is enveloped in peaceful silence helping people to rediscover and find themselves. The Tiger Safari office has some decent place to stay and huge park for relaxation. The food is decent. The time I went (5 Sep 18) it was raining and was very plesant. The road leading to the Reserve passes thru beautiful mountains and streams. Enjoy Madi!!
