Please note that this temple allows only ethnic wear. We were lucky that they allowed us in jeans, you can't be sure that they will allow you too so please wear salwar suits or saree while visiting the temple. There is also a pond near this temple.

A very old temple of Kozhikode where the idol is said to have been installed by Parashuram. The dress code for men is dhoti without shirt and the mundu available for less than Rs 200 if not carried. As for females, modern dresses and jeans are not advisable.
As it was onam season, the streets were piled with colorful flowers meant for pookalam... Feast for the eyes...

We came to Calicut to visit our cousin. Tali temple is famous for most oldest temple in Calicut. The temple is near my cousin home in chalapuram. The temple has strict rule over the dress code. Men should wear dhoti. pants and jeans are strictly prohibited. Non Hindus are not allowed is written there. The temple premises are well maintained and murals on the walls show our artists calibre in the olden times. The ambience of silence inside the temple just provides a stronger bond and feeling with the lord.
Highly recommended

This temple is must visit. The temple is beautiful, symbolic and has many intricate and colourful wall art work which narrates stories. I visited this temple with my family and went there around 10.30 am during that time Puja is held and it is a spiritual experience. I would suggest to attend the Puja if you visit this temple, you'll learn about the culture.

Few things to keep in mind,
1. Temple timings, morning 4.30 am - 11am
Evening 5pm - 8pm
2. Men have to go bare chested with mundu (malayali style dhoti - draped around waist)on. Formal shirt trouser are not allowed for men. Don't worry if you don't have dhoti there's a shop adjacent to the temple where you can buy one.

Happy visiting.
