This is THE place to shop for your real himroo products. A sixth generation shop keeper that supports local weavers. You simply MUST make your way to this place to purchase himroo real woven goods. Words cannot express how amazing this shop is! My husband and I made our way there after reading the wonderful reviews online. They could not describe the amazing experience we would encounter.
We wanted a tablecloth, but I found a saree that had the details in the silk that I wanted.

We worked with Faisal, the sixth generation owner to deconstruct the saree to make it work for our needs.

To say he was a consummate craftsman is an understatement!

We went to buy some additional material, we stopped for some snacks he recommended along the way.

Not only were we supporting local artisans and true craftsman, in the process we created a memory we will never forget!!!

Himroo Fabrics -Authentic himroo and paithani shawls and sarees. Fair pricing. Most of them are a piece of art. Hand work increases price also goes up. These guys are 1891 established. 120 years old shop. Don't confuse with the nearby shop (himroo store)which has very less collection. Also avoid the commission shops in Elllora road.

Excellent collection and a gem find in a crowded market! Kind staff and owner. Shows you the traditional handloom method of weave. Very good variety heavy stuff and design to elegant and light patterns. Highly recommend it.

Great place to buy authentic himroo and paithani sarees, shawls and bedsheets. The shop is there from genetations. Faisal Qureshi, the current generation owner is such a great, humble person who knows his craft in and out. I also got to know of a good restaurant thanks to him.

They have a beautiful collection of sarees n fabrics woven on their own looms. Sameer and Mazhar at the store showed us around the looms and explained the weaving process, and very enthusiastically displayed their collection of sarees n fabrics, all this when it was close to the store closing time. They also courier the materials as per order..

With a retail outlet situated at the heart (Zaffar Gate) of Aurangabad city, the Himroo Fabrics showroom is a hidden gem indeed. It is stocked up with many wonderful designs and artistic works in the weaven category.
Stoles, shawls and sarees (Ethnic Indian Attire) are stunning and of utmost quality.
They provide authentic Paithani sarees and Himroo collections with some mesmerizing artworks on it.
Staff is humble and knowledgeable. The owner, Mr. Faisal Qureshi is also kind enough to share all the intrinsic information about the art. His co-operation ensures our visit to be fruitful and worthy.

Had a really nice experience shopping at Himroo Fabrics store near Jaffar Gate. If you wish to buy authentic Himroo, this place must be in your itinerary. Though the store is slightly away from the usual high end area, it is totally worth visiting. They have all kinds of material (pure silk, cotton silk, wool-silk, cotton in handwoven, handloom and powerloom options) and in wide price range. Store staff were very courteous and patiently displayed and explained the different wares - stoles, scarves, shawls, sarees, dress materials, even table runners, bedsheets, bedcovers and cushion covers.

Nice shawls and sarees are available. rates are decents. Customer service is just awesome.

Himroo:

Handwoven Himroo material is a traditional Aurangabad speciality. Himroo May be woven with silk,wool,cotton or Jari(silver golden thread). Traditionally it was only woven in Cotton(warp) and silk(weft). It was a Cheaper alternative for KIMKHAB, the more lavish brocade of silk n gold thread woven for royalty in 14th century. The weaves incorporate plain lines woven in diffrent patterns,geomatrical designs, designs inspired by nature, floral motifs, motif from the paintings from Ajanta caves, carvings from Ellora caves, Bibi Ka Maqbara and Taj Mahal.

History:

The word "himroo" originated from persian word "hum-ruh" which means similar. Made from cotton and silk. It has its origin in the ancient style of weaving knwon as jamevar in kashmir and was introduced to the south(deccan) by Muhammad bin Tughlak when he shifted his capital from Delhi to Daulatabad in 14th century for the warmer climate. Along with him came many weavers and settled here in Aurangabad. During the migration back to Delhi, several weavers chose to stay back. They did not wanted to Go back to delhi as the conditions were favorable for making himroo in deccan.

A luxurious extra weft figured fabric with a cotton base and a silk or art silk weave, himroo is ideal for rich stoles and furnishing material. The design are geometrical, hexagons and of fruits like pomogranate,pineapple; and flowers like rose, ajanta lotus, jasmine, designs of flowering creeper, running designs formed with leaves and stem which interlock sometimes to form intricate patterns. Himroo uses Persian design, and is very characteristic and distinctive in appearence. According to Historians Himroo Originated in Persia. During the regime of Malik Amber when City was founded in 1610, many weavers were attracted to Aurangabad. Aurangzeb's times n laters Mughals, Aurangabad became capital for handicraft industry n art of himroo grew tremendously. members of royal family and the elite patronaged Himroo.Beside Shwals others products were woven out from himroo like coats, jackets, bedsheets, pillow cases, curtains n furnishing material. During the times of Nizam's of Hyderabad, Himroo sherwanis were made from himroo fabrics and it became so popular that they became intrinsic part of the wedding attire of the groom.

If you are a visitor to Aurangabad there are many guides or taxis driver who take you to some xyz place from where they get some share for getting customers and where our taxi driver took us we weren’t happy as we felt it was lil high as per cost ,so then I googled the whole evening and then I got this so thought to check and I must say my search was worth it…They have amazing himroo collection, Paithani sarees… highly recommended if you are in Aurangabad

Faisal was very helpful. He showed us the cloth being woven on the looms and then gave us a great choice of cloth to choose from. We thought that the price was very reasonable.
