Lake Singkarak

Previously, I didn't expect that this lake is to be so big and wide. This lake is like a water gathered in a spot surrounded by mounts and hills, very nice view.
About the people living beside the lake, I didn't think that giving permission to the people to live around the lake is a good decision. Why I said so?
Along the way around the lake, people throwing rubbish beside their house or their little shop that contaminating the lake, very sad thing to see.

Beautiful lake in West Sumatra. You can find several restaurants with beautiful view to this lake. We can enjoy the lake view while take breakfast or lunch in those restaurants. We also can buy souvenirs from the shops near the lake. I prefer to visit this lake in the morning...

That's very beautiful view of the lake with hills in suroundings. So this is a good place for taking photograph. I have taken pictures in many spots of the lake, and almost all of the pictures are very amazing. Mostly I used lake singkarak as the background. Along the way beside lake singkarak, there are many food court and also mini restaurants.

With a water surface area of around 11,000 hectares, this lake is the second largest lake in Sumatra after Lake Toba. The lake, which is located in two districts (Solok and Tanah Datar), was formed due to the tectonic process of the Sumatra fault and is part of the Singkarak-Solok Basin. The water depth reaches 268 m. Various species of freshwater fish live in this lake, such as bilih fish, nilem, rinuak, etc. Bilih fish is thought to only live in this Singkarak lake. To reach this lake from Minangkabau International airport it takes about 2 hours by road.

The lake, which is surrounded by hills, offers beautiful views so that it is often used as a big event, such as the Tour De Singkarak bicycle race. There are many things we can do, such as swimming, fishing, boating on the lake, or just walking around on the edge of the lake to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
