Cagar Alam Krakatau

Child of Krakatoa. Still awesome to climb the summit and see the underwater crater, even though it collapsed after a major eruption in December 2018. Most trees on the nearby island are burned,caused by the raining vulcanic ash.

How to touch down this site?
Fly to TKG Airport, then continue land trip by car to Canti Seaport or reach Bandar Lampung by train or car from everywhere, then continue land trip to Canti Seaport. Next, sail Sunda Strait and dock to Pulau Sebesi, recommended and safe island to stay during the journey. For summit, sail to Pulau Anak Krakatau at about 2 AM, so you can watch sunrise from the top.

Great Indonesian Active Volcano, incredible for hiking

The black sand on the beach welcomes you here. You take a 30 minute walk to reach the first rim of the volcano. Trekking further was not possible due to the activity of the volcano.

The views are amazing from the top where you can see the remnants of the original volcano scattered around.

The water colour is truly beautiful to see.

Make sure to take enough water with you as you will dehydrate in the heat from the Indonesian sun.

It is well worth the trip if you seek adventure.

I will do this trip again if I have opportunity.

It's quite expensive to get here especially from Java. The place is one of the most natural place I've been and the place is beautiful. Anak Krakatau is active but its okay to get to the volcano. Its possible to hike but until the old crater rim. There, the view is really good. Its possible to see Java and Sumatra from there. Its beautiful.

Even it quite dangerous to hold an activity here, this island has beautiful nature view with virgin ecosystem. It'll be very nice to conduct ecosystem research here since this island has many unveil living species. The top of the mountain can be climbed no more than 2 hours from the beach.

Anak Krakatau (child of Krakatau). One of the more interesting places on earth. Visited in 1992 on a dive boat. We climbed Anak Krakatoa to a ridge where we could view into the caldera. It felt like we were choking, but just bothersome sulfur dioxide. I think ~150 m high then. There are ~3 surrounding islands that are remnants of the original. It started erupting again and was closed for years. Now twice as tall. Go there while you can and be prepared to run. This may be the most seismically active spot on earth. But, recently scientists inferred that Gunung Rinjani on Lombok was even larger and caused starvation in England when it blew up in the 1500's.

One of the most active and most magnificent volcano on Earth. Its natural beauty quickly makes us forget that 130 years ago, this place had been the fifth worst volcanic disaster in human history.

Great place but sad news of today's tsunami and the people who have lost their lives. I've been to Anyer before and feel for the people who have been affected. RIP brothers and sisters.

Well, Anak Krakatau is but a shadow of what it was last year, but that still makes for a memorable moment and hike up the mountain. The lake in the crater is beautiful

Come here from sebesi island at 4 am. Interesting place to see the volcano.. too bad i didn't wear any sunblock, my skin got so burn after the trip.

Good Place, Good View, Amazing Track, very very hot place after 10:00 am... Good Beach.. I will come again next years..

Good destination to understand how big is god miracle also this child volcano still active and usually explode.
