It's 5 stars as it is the largest wet market in Pontianak and possibly all of West Kalimantan.
Still it is a traditional market that is busy and messy. Fresh chicken and fish means butchered before your eyes once you have chosen it.
Kiosks open before dawn and many shut by noon while a few others sell vegetables til the evening. The sights and smells will be unforgettable!

There's a lot of traditional food that you can buy in this place. Typical Indonesian local market, combination of wet and dry market. Parking is quite difficult. Best place for shopping in Pontianak for traditional marketplace

you can find all the materials for cooking in here. this place is a complete package for all range of ingredients. from meats to vegetables. everything are ready to buy. i suggest you do shopping around 3 a.m for fresh fish, but if you aim for others then start around 4 a.m. if you are muslim, go after subuh. because if you go later in the day, you will get leftovers from the best fresh goodies. this is a traditional market, so expect to get your shoes dirty. use boot for convenience or sandal. and make sure you are not using your best clothes, because when you return from shopping, your body's smell will be changed to salted fish a.k.a ikan asin.

A well known traditional market in town and the biggest one i say. Selling almost all ingredients for cooking at cheap price. Also, kinda humid, stink, and crowded everyday.
