City Under The City

The English language tour was at 1500, we were the only takers but it was February and the tour went ahead with just the two of us. Our guide a lovely young man had only been learning English for three years but he was informed, witty and eager to please. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative tour.

Eger is unique, you must see it, I love it,one day not enough

Interesting history story, thee presentation is done on a funny way. I’m not sure if they do it also in English, but the Hungarian version is really nice. I would have expected to see more old tools, used in the wine industry.

Seriously, the best tour I've ever been for a long while! Our guide took us through a variety of historical places and events, with a quirky timetavel twist on it all, adding some precisely aimed jokes along the way. You'll also learn a lot about wine (of course!) and the caves are amazing as well.
Absolutely recommend it!

Interesting experience. If you have the option choose the mulled wine tour, they have some really interesting recipes. For example the "rum-orange" or the "dried plum and cinnamon" are the best. The tour itself is really interesting complete with technical details of how such a huge and complex cellar system could stay functional throughout the years. Disclaimer: I understand Hungarian.

It was quite nice and our guide was funny and he really tried hard to amuse us which he managed to achieve. It was raining badly and we didn't have an umbrella so they gave us one free of charge so our clothes wouldn't be that drenched with rain.

Amazing tour! David was able to give the tour in English and Hungarian. A worthwhile experience.

Dávid was a fantastic guide - entertaining and informative. He showed me the underground cellars and waterways as well as the equipment that was used back in the day. Definitely experience this gem!

Interesting place under the town. It was used as a wine cellar for the church. If you like half-lit labyrinths then it is a must for you. Tour starts at every hour and takes about 45 minutes.

Watch out! It is cold down there! Recommended program, interesting and different perspective on the city and nice stories. Foreign language translations could be of higher quality. If you are not hungarian, you only get a fraction of the infos.
