It's a little far away but you can reach there easily by bus. Although the weather was verya cold, it was a worthy experience. It's the commemoration of Hungarians who sacrificed their lives to defend their rights. It's a very interesting visit, I think that this establishment should be supported. Entry fee with the student discount was 1800 HUF, which was quite affordable. Much recommended.

Definitely enjoyed this experience! We took public transportation from city central, and it took about 45 minutes. Very simple if you're used to transit systems.

The price of admission was reasonable - despite other reviews. We spent nearly 2 hours looking and learning.

I highly recommend buying a guide book, as all the (historical) plaques are in Hungarian language only.

A really informative and interesting experience. I would definitely advise purchasing the guide book if you're interested in understanding the history of the statutes!

It wasn't too busy and isn't a typical tourist location, but was really interesting and worth visiting. We experienced no wait for tickets, but we did visit on a Monday in September.

There's a toilet on site as well, and the ticket office/gift shop also sold soft drinks and tea/coffee. I wouldn't suggest this location as somewhere to bring food and have lunch, although there is a shaded seating area near the ticket office where you could eat.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend visiting!

The statue park where the soviet statue had been taken to after 1989. On one of the pics you can see the boots of Stalin but not Stalin itself as the statue had been demolished. At the entrance it is Lenin and Karl Marx waiting for you. They have a cinema part with four little movies, interesting. Takes approx 20 mins to get here by car from the center of Budapest. Adult ticket costs 3000 huf. They have a little gift shop too.

We visited the park two days before the anniversary of the October revolution, and it was worth the visit.

It's located on the outskirts of Budapest, but easily reached by metro and bus (just follow google maps).

We bought the little brochure and it really contextualised the statues and the personalities depicted. Make sure to also check out the bunker underneath Stalin's boots to see pictures of other odd monuments.

This park is not that big but it is worth visiting especially for history lovers. I didn’t really know much about the Hungarian history during the Soviet regime so I was happy to get some knowledge. It wasn’t crowded at all and we got the tickets by the entrance. FYI it has 2 parts: a park with the statues inside and 2 buildings outside the park gates.

This is a great place to see monuments (and consequently, visit the history) of the times of socialism in Hungary. Not only for the standpoint of seeing pieces of history, but also a benchmark for other countries that are simply demolishing monuments for the sake of "decomunisatuon".

For me, an American from the Midwest, Memento Park, with its Soviet era statues, old Communist car, and period radio playing Communist music, was an utterly unique experience.
In addition to the Statue Park you can view documentary footage of a Communist training film for how to perform spy craft in the form of breaking and entering, surveillance, and searching a civilian’s home.

You can't erase the past, but you can recontextualize its monuments as object lessons.

Every slightest aspect of this park drips with metaphor, so do your homework in advance and/or bring a good guide.

Very easily reached via public transportation. Nice little shop/cafe at the entrance.

Come prepared, though. There is no shade inside the park. It's just you, the blazing sun, and the memories of the evils of Communism.

Keep your expectations in check and you will really get something from this experience! Sure, it is a bit of of the way, sure, it is a bit unkempt but hey, as an art installation that encapsulates Soviet era Budapest, it can't be beat!

A must go place for people who are interested in community ideas or Hungary history. The guided tour is the best. Visiting the park with historical context makes the whole experience substantial!

Memento Park is a park full of huge old Hungarian Soviet Era statues. But if you think this is a place of communist nostalgia, you're wrong. Memento Park does not glorify the past. Instead, it serves as a reminder of Hungary's history to prevent its repetition.

There's a small on-site museum/exhibition which offers the necessary historical context. This makes it accessible even for visitors who may not be familiar with the dates and names of Communist Hungary.
Additionally, you can watch a short film in the museum about the tactics of the Soviet Era Secret service, which I found very interesting.
Memento Park might be on the outskirts of Budapest but the connection with the tram to Kelenföld and taking the bus from there is fine.
If you have the time and are interested, I definitely recommend a visit here.

Must go excursion. When communism fell in Hungary, they authorized creation of this place and sent their communist era statues to be displayed.

Great experience. Loved the opportunity to see these statues up close. Not massive site but definitely worth the trip. Easy trip on underground and bus from central Budapest

See the statues and sculptures from communism era its super interesting. The aesthetic its super unique and tells a lot about the mindset of the communism party. The bunker with the busts of Stalin and Lenin has a very creepy atmosphere.
You should definitely go.

Really great place to go all the statues were interesting to look at and take pictures with. I liked how the plaques were both in English and Hungarian so tourists can read where it was. However would have liked some history behind every statue as I didn’t know who half of the people were. But I used Google so that helped. The gift shop is also amazing!! And I would also suggest to go if you have a Budapest card as it is free

A place which to some will be a source of nostalgia for the forgotten glory days of proletarian heroism, to others of fits of laughter, and to others still a feeling of anger and frustration towards the period.

⭐ Feel the imposing (and imposed) splendor that your (grand)parents were subjected to right before walking into a grocery shop empty of basic goods.
⭐ Feel the inspiration (that some felt) to follow the dream and create a socialist paradise.
⭐ Feel the judging eye of Lenin as you photograph him with your capitalist phone created by taking the means of production form the masses.

Feel it all and be happy statues like this are now just a dark memory in a remote park of curiosities.

Don't miss the exhibition in the house in front of the park and the extra collection of statues in the bunker under Stalin's shoes.

🤔 The total collection strikes me as a bit small, in comparison to what I think must ave been around the city/country "back in the day". I suspect there must be more statues somewhere; who knows maybe some people just put them in their gardens to barbecuing under a watchful eye of the heroes of the working class.

The gentleman selling tickets is very kind, deserves his own 5 stars. He patiently encourages everyone to buy an explanation booklet (which in retrospect I think would have been very helpful to get more context about the statues). I had a huge coughing fit while visiting the place, and he brought me a glass of water.

ℹ There is a toilet, little cafe, and a shop with a lot of Soviet memorabilia including original pins, postcards, some collectors items and other stuff—basically what I'd find in my grandma's closet.

Even if you're not a fan of such Soviet-era art, it's still a fun place to visit. It doesn't glorify the Soviet Union. Rather it's just a place of former, real statues placed all over Hungary. Can spend 45 minutes walking around. At the entrance they have many souvenirs to take home, including posters, mugs, beer and postcards. Bathroom on site. Free parking. Highly recommend, easy off the highway.

Take the Trabant Combi tour. It completes the once in a lifetime experience. Very memorable. Judith was a fantastic guide. The Trabant is a unique car. People were staring while driving around Budapest.

Very cool places showing off statues both soviet and Hungarian giving insight into what life would’ve been like for people living in this time
