This iconic restaurant was a great experience!

Cuttlefish broth with polenta and homemade pasta with prawns were out of this world, super delicious! 1 portion is so large that 2 people can share it without an issue.

While we awaited the main course, the waiter kindly served us some fish pate and warm spring rolls :)

The atmosphere was pleasant and peaceful, by the sea - truly a wonderful place for lunch and socializing!

We're back, again, and will keep coming back. We were too busy enjoying the food, so we didn't take better photos, but no image would do this restaurant justice. You have to try it. It was Saturday before Easter, we tried to book a table days before, but they were packed for the Easter weekend. Nevertheless, the host Paolo managed to get us a table. He was also gracious enough to get us information on the sweet wine liqueur we had, so we can buy it ourselves. We had the black risotto, homemade pasta with praws and orange-fig cake for dessert. Everything was outstanding, the house wine was also great. The waiters are kind and helpful. This place immediately strikes you as an example of how a good restaurant operates. We'll be coming back.

We ate black risotto, pasta with sea shells, and home made pasta with prawns... Everything was very good, perfect I would say.. Service was perfect, young waiters, flying around the tables... Definitely place to visit!

Made a little detour to come for a bite on our way to Dubrovnik. The fish pate that comes “on the house” (counted as couvert, one of us wasnt eating it so they didnt charge us couvert for that person) was solid. The fried oysters were delicious, batter and the sauce are very good…the oysters are presented on a plate with rice and vegetables which was a bit odd and didnt really fit the taste profile or made sense, also wasnt too tasty by itself.

Cuttlefish ragu with polenta was very good, delicious sauce and quite a big portion for one person (especially if you’ve had oysters and pate before!). Not too strong on the spices, but its not a minus as we added more salt and olive oil to taste :)

The signature cake, Ston Makaruli is a cake made out of almonds, walnuts and pasta…comes warm, served with some fruit on the side. Very good and full-filling, definetly try it if you havent tried such traditional pasta-cake before ✨

Excellent food and our waiter was the kindest and caring waiter we could have asked for. He was very helpful in suggesting local specialities and explained the history of the restaurant and the little town. Greatly recommended!

Charming, intimate, romantic. All terms to describe this lovely restaurant by the sea. Highlights are their oysters that come from around the corner and are amazingly well priced. Less than $2 per oyster which are not overly fleshy and very succulent and fresh with a lovely tinge of the briny sea. Other seafood dishes are just as stunning. Reservations essential!

Coming from a series of Bib gourmand and Michelin rated places, this one “off the list” has been a revelation.

Do yourself a favour and eat here in the town. Also look up the town of Ston and it's walls and wineries and salt farm.

Parking in front is €1 per hour. Witnesses Parking inspector booking several cars.

I loved our waiter. The food was super fresh. I m speechless after this seafood feast. By the way oysters are a must here.

It was empty due to off season, and lots of flys inside :( But still food was delicious, a little expensive than other places but not much. Amazing view. Have a nice terrace in front of it. Also you can find free parking.

We were glad to hear of this place from our guide. We tried their traditional deserts and some vegetarian flare and they were very nice. The ambience was superb, the service was excellent and not pushy and the food was excellent. Clean toilets. Credit cards accepted. Parking free. Highly recommended.

High quality seafood at a good price earns 4 stars from me. The oysters are outstanding.
The fifth star is for the beautiful terrace and view over the bay.
Portion sizes were enormous - perhaps even too big!

I agree with many of the reviews. This place is famous; however, despite the fame has not compromised quality. I hope they keep it this way! I did notice some German dishes creeping into the menu which could be a sign of change but for now, I’ll let the Alemán experts decide how it compares to home. The Croatian dishes here compare with some of my favorite taverns across Hrvatska.

Highly recommend if you drive from Split to Dubrovnik, I’d say this is a must-visit village if you’re oysters lover. Very fresh and less expense price to take a lot sea flavors. Fish soup, risotto, everything was also tasty.

I eat here for nearly 30 years. Amazing food , oyster soup is the best fish soup in the world.
They never ever failed me with service or food quality!
Just go for it untill you don't try everything !

One of my favourites in southern Dalmatia. Excellent sea food restaurant, friendly stuff, home grown vegetables, .... I would recommend black risotto Kapetanova kuća, grilled Adriatic fish and of course oysters. Should you still be able they offer some delicious cakes too.
