Delicious food, very friendly staff, cookies and brandy on the house!

Very tasty dish, like at grandma's with all that ambiance. It increases your saltiness and taste. Of course, as soon as we arrived, the staff were waiting for us as if we had come home, of course they treated us to an appetizer at the expense of the house. How would they call me meza❤. After a hearty meal with everything for 5+, they saw us off very kindly. Thank you Kontija, see you soon.

Go for the crispy pork!! You will love it! Outside Asia, this is hands down the best crispy pork you can find. The price is low but the quality is great!! The potatoes that come along with the pork are so yummy as well. Our kids loved these! Make sure to make reservations. The chef is very kind and generous. Thank you!

Delicious grilled lamb and pork with baked potatoes and vegetables and already prepared great cabbage salad.
Friendly owner with his family members and the rest of the staff take care that we enjoyed every moment in good food and ambiance.
For farewell like good hostess they serve us homemade sweets, spirit with Istrian herbs and grappa (grapes spirit).
We will definitely visit them every time we come back in beautiful Istria.

It was the best meal in Cro. I ate fishplate for one, my hubby lamb and my son ate meat on the stick. Everything was delicious. At the end Chef brought us gratis cakes. I tasted also local alkohol.

We stopped here for a late lunch on the way home from Dino Park in Funtane. It's not easy to find many restaurants in late October open in the afternoon in this region. We were lucky to find this restaurant and extremely happy with the food served to us. We ordered some local specialties, Istrian pasta (pljukanci) with truffles and home made gnocchi, delicious food, the service was great, very friendly and helpful waitress. At the end of the meal we got a generous portion of home made fritule (Istrian sweets) , unexpected but very much appreciated. Overall, very happy to recommend them and we'll definitely come back 👏❤

If you are searching for authentic Istrian restaurant, this is the place to go and don't look further. You will get here a big portion of a great food for really reasonable price and a great customer experience. It is a typical family bussiness where you will immediatelly get a feeling everyone is happy to have you there and they will really make sure you feel great. If you are looking for a sofisticated boutique style restaurant, this is not the place for you but if you will appreciate an authentic restaurant with local specialities. You will be on the ideal place. Waiting time was very short, meal was great, traditional local desert (on the house!) was delicious. Staff super attentive... we felt really great. No doubts we will return soon.

Very enjoyable, the meat is absolutely great. We ordered 'Spanferkel' as a group but got recommended a plate of meat to include all orders instead. Got a selection of all kinds of meat for people, splendidly soft pork, an absolute joy to eat. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Especially in times of corona, happy to see gastronomy still running mostly (for what we can see at least) fine.

This restaurant was really impressive! They treated us to a bunch of complimentary goodies. Their great hospitality made the whole experience super memorable!

People with a heart for their business. We arrived quite late in the evening but they treated us as if we were their important customers with fresh good food, sizeable portion, always with a geniune smile, not a fake smale (like in some restaurants... who want to extract as much money as possible). Very honest price. They even treated us on the drinks because they liked us , esp. hearing we were coming from far (Flanders/ Belgium).

We had octopus salad, rizotto with sea food and shrimps "na buzaru". Everything was very tasty and together with homemade bread and complementary dessert and spirits, this visit was a home run.

Best local restaurant for meat lovers. If you want to try the best of Istrian cuisine you ought to give it a go!

We first found Istrian House Kontija by accident in 2012. So much great food, and I still remember the humongous meat platter. We returned in 2019, this time with additional family members. Food was just as great. The pork was so tender, and my Croatian family say you're supposed to soak up the juices with the bread and potatoes. So bad for you, but so delicious! We're returning to Rovinj this September, and we're definitely eating at Istrian House.

When we parked in the lot, they came out to greet me, and shake hands. They gave us free dessert, and as their sign says, "aperitif gratis"

Great food, great prices and great service. Only tried the pork products but can vouch for their great taste. Portions were quite large so watch out, but if it comes to it, there is always the opportunity to bring some home :)
