Fort Prevlaka

Not easy to reach but very beautiful area!

Ist der südlichste Teil Kroatiens. Von dort aus hat man tolle Sicht auf Montenegro und die Stadt Budva. Zwei wichtige Tipps: die Fahrt mit dem Auto ist nur für sehr sichere und routinierte Fahrer/innen, die letzten Kilometer sind sehr eng und ausweichen bei Gegenverkehr ist nicht möglich. WICHTIGSTER Tip: Roaming ausschalten oder Flugmodus rechtzeitig aktivieren, Montenegro ist kein EU Land und das Handy verbindet sich auf kroatischer Seite mit dem Netz. Kosten: 1mb 40€, dass kann also sehr teuer werden.

Looking forward to see the restored fort.

The fort lies right at the end of the Prevlaka peninsula. So just continue a long the road to the end.

When we were there in July 2021 the fort was being restore which meant that there was no access to the fort itself.

But if you go up the hill you will end up visiting some of the old military buildings from the Yugoslav era. We found it very interesting to explore these on our own and would recommend the tour just to be able to do that.

Remember to check if you’re suddenly using mobile signals from Montenegro. Taking a couple of pictures and forgetting that they were automatically uploaded from my mobile to the sky cost me 80 Euros

If you fancy a swim, the fortress is not the ideal place because of the current, but just before the fortress you’ll pass Beach Vitaljina, which is a good local small beach.
