Restaurant Pod Ladonjon

We came across this place while visiting Žminj. It’s very easy to miss as it’s not a fancy place. We wanted to try authentic Istrian cuisine and we were in for a treat.
Lady that served us made some suggestions so we had clear beef soup followed by fuži pasta with venison stew, pljukanci pasta with prosciutto and wild asparagus and stewed sauerkraut. It was absolutely delicious, very rustic and super tasty home cooked style food. Pasta was typical istrian and homemade.
If you are after a no nonsense and delicious authentic food please give this place a go.

if you weren't "Pod Ladonjon" you weren't in Žminj.
Don't be fooled by retro look of this restaurant. The food is simply perfect. Just like it is supposed to be. Home made ravioli with cheese and excellent and thick venison stew. Portions are very generous, definitely you can't walk away and still be hungry.
Friendly, polite and helpful staff.
Definitely, the place where I have to visit again.

Absolutely delightful experience, were on the road to Rovinj with my girlfriend, it was raining and we had no where to eat
We found this place by casualty and oh my it was worth
Everything is home made
I got the gnocchi with deer and a bowl of it arrived (the gnocchi were obviously home made and were delicious)
She got some "home plate" of meat and it was even better than the gnocchi
The only downside were the palacinke which tasted so good, but where quite heavy
The price was the most reasonable one I found since Croatia has passed to Euro
Definitely worth a visit if you pass by

Ordered pasta with seafood- 100 %worth to try. Really delicious, pasta was home made. Big terrace- kids had where to run around.

Just a short visit to drink some coffee. Staff was very friendly, we sat on the terrace with a view. Couldn’t stay longer due to oncoming weather.

Amazing food, everything local, we ordered istrian risotto (the best risotto we've ever tryed!!!), gnocchis with deer meat and scalopino.
Everything really tasty, generous portions, I would recommend to anyone who is comming to croatia :)

Best food we had during 4-day holiday in Istria. Very tasty, local, home made, cosy, quite big portions, low prices. Will come back!
