Rijeka City Museum - Sugar Refinery Palace

This museum is packed with interactive activities, hours worth of reading and all sorts of artifacts, making it accessible for everybody.

There is even a small library section where you can read books to your heart's content and a place where you can listen to and read about Croatian music from Rjeka in the 20th century.

Overall, this museum is amazing and a definite must see if you are in the area.

The kids and I had an amazing time in the museum. It does not have the biggest exhibition but it is one of the most interactive museums that I have ever been in. the kids had a blast. If you have preschool or school children than this museum is a must. There is so much for them to do and try out. The only thing that needs fixing (and i forgot to mention this to the staff when we were leaving) are the stamps with glagoljica letters as a lot of them are no longer working properly.

Really well done, interesting exhibition - on the history of Rijeka, Europe and the world :-) - yes they are all intertwined.
There is a lot, but even if you dont read all the signs - it's very interesting to follow.
All rooms have a totally different atmosphere.
Top floor is on the sugar and chocolate industry - and has amazing restored rooms.

Absolutely must see object in Rijeka with lot of interactive and interesting technica, design and art solutions to interpret and explain history of Rijeka. Compliment to team who created this amazing place.
All facilities to feel comfortable to spend all day there. Highly recommend!

Absolute gem in museum offering. The entrance fee will be well worth for what you get even if you are only visiting the permanent exhibition about the history of Rijeka.
Exhibition is well structured, bilingual (Croatian/English), interdisciplinary, interactive and highly informative.

My favourite museum in Rijeka.
I went twice because tickets of 7.90 euros are valid for 3 days. I went on Friday and Saturday.

A fantastic museum with lots to see. Old postcards of Rijeka, a bit of early Klimt(maybe...), an exhibition about the growth of modern Rijeka from the 1860s, and much, much more. Also has a very good website. It's opposite the Railway station. Do give it a try, it's well worth it.

A beautifully restored space that shows the rich past of the city of Rijeka. It is interesting to see which industrial plants were in this city at that time.

Gorgeous well restored building. It is a history museum. Specially enjoyed the temp exhibition by Radovan Kunic. Excellent big nature inspired pictures.

We went here as a group of university students from the U.S. and had a great time while learning a lot. They have done a ton of work to make this a fantastic museum— very interactive, lots of variety, and interesting. We had a guided tour but I think it could be excellent without one as well.

Super insightful museum about Rijeka, you will learn a lot about the things you still see in the city today. The exposition is very well prepared and organized, plus everything is described in English, too. The mixture of reading, Audioguide (available in English too), interactive computer hubs and exhibition pieces to look at create great variety during the visit. Bring some more time and don’t go into the museum hungry to ensure you have enough time to discover Everything!

The museum is restaurated, updated. If you plan a visit, take the time. There are many things to see. If you are here to see Klimt's exhibition, enjoy. 😍
