Astra Divina

Hi folks,
If you're tired of tourists & hot day-by-day nearby the sea, I would like to share my family experience in Gorski Kotar. We decided to spend 2 days in nature (I would stay longer!), but walking alone was not enough. We wanted to know the area better, to learn about different trees & plants, see the footprints of wild animals, and listen to locals about their life there. So that we met a remarkable young biologist & educator
Marta Astra who lives in Hrib and organizes family or kids workshops in the wood very close to the National Park Risnjak. It was the perfect educational program & actual family experience.
PS We also collected >2 kg of mushrooms that days.

The workshop proved to be an exceptional experience for both adults and kids alike. With a skilled and knowledgeable guide, we were able to learn and appreciate nature in a way that left us feeling fulfilled and inspired. The guide's professional and warm approach made it clear that they practice what they teach, and we walked away with a newfound appreciation for the great outdoors.

Spent some beautiful time in one stunning environment! If you love untouched nature, the fragrance of the wild & great people this is for you! And exactly that is why we chose Marta & Amir to be our protagonists in a an award winning Beetz Brothers production documentary film about lynx which you will soon see on french/german TV station ARTE worldwide!

Following Amir on the Fb page, I was thrilled by his posts on Gorski Kotar’s wildlife, knowledge that he simply conveys, and educational comments on forrest behaviour, from which I learned something each time. I had a great desire to spend a day with him and Marta in the woods. Experience the wildlife through their eyes. And wow. It happened.

Marta, an encyclopaedia of biology, Amir to whom forest is a completely natural environment, and Kinai, their wolfdog. They guided me through bear paths and wolf valleys, each in their own way commenting on plants, vegetation, or the way animals move. How the wildlife breathes, how I blend in with it, to be a part of it ... I absorbed every detail. And all day long was too short. I would be a shadow to them, and listen until I myself would begin to understand and read this wonderful intelligence of forest and animals.

It is hard to say what made this day magical; the beauty of the natural environment, the three of them in their element, information that has given me a deeper understanding and respect, or just a rich day in the nature and company of beautiful people.

They have so much value and richness to convey, I would say that we have forgotten yet which we are undeniable part of. Valuable to us, and our children ... and all generations to come. For me, the time with them is a "must" so much that I would introduce their approach to the schools and companies “Intelligence of Nature, a Day with Marta, Amir and Kinai" :)

Great experience with Astra Divina as she guided the children through the lush forest, explaining them the signs of early spring, intepreting traces of wild animals and giving many more clues concerning the diversity and natural cycle of forest life.

Afterwards, we visited a local farm where we all learned something about the domestic animals, while some of us also had the opportunity to taste the local delies :)

In the end, we relaxed with the hot tea and coffee, while the kids had awesome time playing various educational games and shaping interesting pieces of art. Not to mention they were all super-excited because of the presence of her adorable dogs!

All of us at INCroatia are extremely happy to be working with Marta and Astra Divina on our international school group programmes! Educational workshops in nature are fun, interactive and provide a perfect opportunity for experiential learning! Marta is an expert in the field of biology but also an excellent host, very friendly and enthusiastic about her work. We had many happy students who just loved spending quality time in Hrib and we are sure more will follow :)

In a magical little village in the forest, Astra Divina has managed to sustaine a great concept using all nature has to offer. I attended a lecture about the medicinal herbs and I'm very satisfied. All the complicated information about plants and its medicinal effects were made approachable and understandable for all by the lecturer's (Marta) communicational skills and by the demonstrative part where we were able to see and feel the process. It was also very professional. I kindly recommend Astra Divina for educational, advisory and other services.

Marta and Amir are really special people, kind you don't meet every day. They will show you how to live in the nature, and live in harmony with it. Don't be surprised when you hear stories how they take protons of bears and wolfs at arms distance and cut grass so that viper snake can enjoj the sun :)

the Astra Divina experience was very good and also a lesson of great quality about the forest and a lot of the plants which live in this biome. The "Wisdom of plants"workshop is a complete, rich and pleasant way to learn more about the forest and its secrets...

Amazing experience and I totally recommend it to anyone that loves nature and enjoys its treasures. I'm usually a quite sceptical person when it comes to emphasising the benefits of all these different herbs and fruits that grow in the wild, but this was something different. Marta is an educated biologist, so the learning experience she gave us comes with credibility. Traveling to Hrib is an adventure and its totally worth it. You get to enjoy beautiful nature of Gorski Kotar, you get valuable knowledge about its flora and fauna, and also the sustainable way to use the most of the health benefits it provides. And lets not forget about the natural products Marta makes - they're just wow!
