Toko Baru

I discovered this Indonesia little restaurant in Antigua. In the Netherlands i am used to lots of Indonesian food and i love it. Here in Antigua I didn’t expect too much of it. Boy, was I wrong! I had the best Rendang ever! Also the staff was excellent. This restaurant deserves Lots of clients.

Stop looking for somewhere to eat and just come here already! The food is cheap, tasty, and served in big portions. The fish and chips is sooo flaky and good. The sweet potato fries are to die for. The wine is 2 glasses for Q30. I mean what more do you want?? We came last night for dinner and I’m currently writing this review after eating here for lunch the following day.

We wanted a different flavor of food. We love Indian curries..found this gem!! From the street the restaurant is small and when we arrived all tables were taken..we expected to wait-no problem but 2 minutes later we were directed to an outside garden area shared with a different restaurant! WOW!! Live music was very pleasant and the garden is beautiful. The food choices are plentiful at Toko Baru which makes it challenging to order. We shared half orders of Falafel and sweet potato fries- incredible with garlic mayo! We each had a curry main..the flavour is authentic and so delicious!! I had pork and my husband had chicken. Amazing!! I highly recommend eating here. Staff are so friendly and pleasant and are really making a great attempt at learning English..we still spoke Spanish but our server replied in English. Practicing each others' language! 💓

Such a Great Place! Big portions, small prices. The food is stunning, they’ve got German beer, great music, kind staff and short waiting times! Great experience! Would absolutely recommend it!

I ate here 3 meals in a row! Excellent food with a great staff. Super cheap for the value. Be mindful the portions can be quite large for Guatemala! Lots of flavor! Yum.

Don’t do it justice. Also super affordable for the portion!

The prices are super cheap - think the price you will pay for a burger at the nearby McDonald's, but you gear a whole plare of chicken, rice, salad, and sauces! International cuisine, with dishes sure to please every member of the family. We had fries, chicken satay, and cheese ball for appetizers, each was yummy. For entrée, we had the chicken Vindalo, dhal, fish curry, and wrap. We enjoyed each dish, though the flavors are a bit different (due to the preponderance of new spices). The service is excellent, we will go again for sure.

Had dinner here and it was super super yummy! The curry was spiced really well and really really flavourful! Great serving sizes and the staff are lovely also

Delicious food in a good atmosphere, we ended up here 3 times for dinner! The restaurant is usually full at peak times but the food and service is fast, so it’s worth it if you have to wait 15 minutes. Good portions and excellent value!

We had a really lovely time at Tokyo Baru. The food and wine was fantastic and the portion sizes were brilliant! The service and atmosphere was also perfect. Would love to have more time to go back!

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Food was exceptional and very affordable. The condiments were divine. Great atmosphere with many seating options. Would 100% recommend!

Good food with fresh flavours. Loved their peri peri chicken in pita bread. Quantity is also good-not “huge” but decent. I really liked the hot sauces that they gave, especially the one in the smallest bowl. It was super spicy but we couldn’t stop trying it. Can anyone tell what it’s called and where can I get it.

Cute place with tasty food for not so expensive! The staff was very kind, and the place was cosy. They also have some tables in the garden. We had the rendang and kare which were nice! Croquetas could be a bit smaller and more crispy in our opinion. For the rest definitely a nice place for dinner in Antigua!

Spectacular place, great price delicious food.

The yuca is delicious, the tandoori fabulous and the Kare as well.

Highly recommend, ask the server for one of the 3 tables in the patio.

We had a nice dinner at Toko Baru. The people are very nice and you can pay by card. We had dinner for < 50Q + drinks. We had falafel and the dish with eggs and eggplants, both were great.

Such a wonderful place! Great food, very affordable, huge portions, and super friendly staff!! The garden is very cosy and even had live music when we were there. Definitely check this place out when you’re in Antigua! We wanted to go again a fee days later but they were full and almost closing (they close early! At 20:30). At the end of our trip we are in Antigua again and will definitely visit this place again!

Delicious food for such a good price. Service was great and the plates come with so much which meant it was like eating home cooked food. Definitely recommend
