It is well worth a visit just for being able to experience an active volcano in about an hour.
If you are strong you could even climb near the crater.
There is an little inconvinience of sharing a narrow road with people riding horses.
Bur thanks to this, you can climb on with a horse even if ypu are not physically strong enough.

So much fun as a trek / hike. Make sure to get a stick on the way up, for the way down. Option to do some of the hike via horse as well.

Great for an intermediate difficulty trip. Guidance available. Horse riding is also an option.

We went on a guided hike and it was great! Be warned that this is a difficult trail and you should bring lots of water even if it’s a cloudy day.

One of the most difficult hikes I've done thus far, and the most rewarding. I kept hearing how easy it was, however for me it was hard. My quads were tight, I was out of breath, and regretted every day that I haven't worked out.
The view, and the sense of pride reaching the top was SO worth it.

This is a really cool place to visit. Lava is actually flowing. You can feel and see the heat. The views are amazing. Choose between hiking on foot or riding a horse up, you have to be in decent shape. The horses can only go so far. The footing is slippery at the top and the lava rock is sharp. I suggest you wear long pants, bring a first aid kit, and plenty of water.

The trail to the Pacaya Volcano is great, easy to walk up. Main entrance should be better.

Nice hike, approximately 7km (3hrs in a group but could be done quicker) Nice views along the way and awesome at the top. We were told there was more lava in the afternoon plus you get an amazing sunset. Highly worth it and a good activity for kids as you toast marshmallows on the lava at the top (as long as they're old enough to hike the 7km)

This place is nice to hike and eventually when you reach the top, roast some marshmallows. The hike can challenge novices, but simple solutions such as mounts can resolve this issue. A shop offering jewelry and trinkets made in part by lava awaits travelers at the summit.

Must see. Nice place to visit. You can get a view of the volcano from the top. The time we went, we were able to see lava coming out from the top. The hike is little bit tough however the locals will be there to rent you horses.

We went on a trip from Antigua, it's a one and a half hour bus ride each way. We went for the afternoon trip hoping for sunset photos, but the weather was poor and got wet in the rain. However it did clear and we had great views of lava erupting from a subsidiary crater. Cooked marshmallows in a vent and had a great time. The guides were very good and walk up pretty easy for average people. We paid Q65 for our trip plus Q50 park entrance fee
