POSADA VETZ K'AOL

Very rustic, but clean and comfortable place to stay. Hosts were very attentive and meals simple and delicious!

Lugar limpio, tranquilo, y con una atención excelente. Los colchones son muy delgados y no son muy cómodos, pero para pasar una noche, estuvo más que bien.

Hermosa Iglesia

The rooms had adequate security, wool blankets, pegs for hanging things, and a desk with stools, but the lighting was weird (bare florescent bulbs, but the room still felt dim).

The restroom has 3 toilets and 2 showers. The toilets flush, but you need to put toilet paper in the wastebasket rather than down the drain (surprisingly, the room didn't stink after a dozen people used it for 5 days). The showers are supposed to have hot water after 8pm, but in my experience it only worked if a friend flushed a toilet while you're in the shower. And towels weren't replaced unless explicitly requested.

Garbage cans weren't emptied even when overflowing and set outside the rooms, but the staff were accommodating about anything directly asked for. The native language is Ixil, but you can expect at least some of the staff to know Spanish.

Wifi was unavailable the first 3 days, but worked well the last 2. The Posada is located at the bottom of a fairly steep hill. Tuk tuks are abundant and inexpensive, but buses/vans will have a hard time with the corners getting to the Posada, and tend to disrupt cables en route.

The hosts are very friendly and they can take you for a short walk to see the landscape. It's a nice hostel were to spend a night without spending too much, it's just a little hard to reach and the small village is almost in the middle of nowhere.

Peaceful place, best in town. Nothing special, very nice hosts.
