The Emporium

Upstairs café Ixchel has many gluten free options. Celiacs should be careful what they order as some dishes do contain oats and the ladies working there were not sure whether they were the gluten free kind. However, staying clear of any oat containing dishes, I (celiac) had no symptoms of cross contamination and the food was great. I tried the quinoa bowl, health bowl, untraditional breakfast plate and the tacos. All of them were really good and freshly prepared. One night they had a jazz jam session which was great fun to watch. I found the prices pretty reasonable, it was Q50 for all dinner dishes (March 2024) which were generous portions to me.

Ixchel (upstairs at the Emporium) is definitely a local hang out spot. I came here a few times to get cacao / food / and internet. Don't come here if you are in a rush to eat, because the kitchen is small and is not a good place if you are in a rush. But if you have time to kill and chill, totally the best spot. I tried the sweet and savory waffles. Savory were better.

Go up to Ixchel and chill, write your diary or work on your computer. Such a great chill out vibe. Definitely try the “Om Mani” cacao and banana bread when they have - it’s the best!

Upstairs patio cafe with vegan pastry options. Hot chocolate with an added shot of espresso was great. Cookies were soft and delicious as well. Two thumbs up.

The Emporium is a great spot! There is a bulk food health shop, large plates of delicious food at a good price, healthy desserts, creative drinks with cacao, coffee and smoothies. There is a clothing store promoting local brands, a sushi on the premise and more. You can pay for you food/drinks at the cafe in crypto.

It has a nice atmosphere with art hanging all around, there are big tables that are spread out around the area and you are surrounded by trees.

Every Saturday is a big market where you can hang out and find local artisanal items for sale.

I've only had great experiences at Emporium! The owners are awesome and I highly reccomend their brunch, visiting during their local market on Saturday or grabbing a vegan & gluten-free snack to go when you're in a rush!
