Very historical and sad history, too. It's amazing how it has been preserved. Hopefully, history NEVER repeats itself again

Amazing history lies within the walls of this castle. It’s not Cape Coast that has castles to show history of slaves but Accra in Osu does.

The grounds has a story to tell of the rich history.

We paid 100 Ghana Cedis per person, this allows you tour the castle, the garden and the entire grounds. Brace yourself, there’s a lot of slave trade history, colonialism and other sad tales. We were shown around the castle, the dungeons and the gardens.

My partner and I really enjoyed this visit.

We learnt a lot about the history of Ghana, slavery and colonialism. The guide was exceptional. Unfortunately I forgot his name, but he was extremely passioned about history and it made the entire visit unforgettable.

We had a perfect experience. For 100cedi we got guided tour of the whole castle. The guide was just perfect in terms of historic information and also as a performer. The tour lasted for about an hour, there is very nice view of Accra from ramparts and the garden next to a castle is a calm haven filled with flowers and birds. Definitely worth the money.

Historically, it is very significant. The tour guide was excellent, facts, the physical structure, it was all overwhelming. I wish there were funds to restore this location as an active smuseum space.

Nice castle (Fort Christiansborg), with a long and interesting history. Benjamin gave a great tour and provided a lot of information about the fort, its history, and role in the slave trade.
It's unfortunate that some parts of the fort are in poor condition.
Castle is walking distance from Black Star Square.

The location is very close to the airport if you are in Accra wanting to visit an important place in global history, for those who can't make it to the further larger forts that held enslaved Africans. You can visit it on a long layover even. The cellars that held thousands of scared people are imposing in their feel while heartbreaking in their lack of light, space and air. We could barely breathe and there were only a dozen of us in there, instead of the hundreds it would hold during its operational time. it was clearly torture. The seas and gates of no return are places you must see to understand. I very much encourage a visit if you can.

It was awesome, had a really good and insightful time. The place was neat and well maintained and the tour guide was really good at telling the story of the slave trade

Historical monument of international significance. A place for spiritual awakening for the black people in the diaspora. Beautiful gardens for approved events. Former seat of government of Ghana. Must visit.

One of the castles built for slaves in the era of slavery.
Its sad tale of how slaves were manhandled and brutalised.

Getting into the castle, I had to go a day before for inquiries. On the day, I paid 40GHC and a tour guide was assigned.

It has varying rules and some tourists are not allowed to visit the castle.

A wonderful place to experience…a former seat of government with parts of it serving as offices.
The castle has a beautiful outdoor garden available for public use (you can have a picnic or read a book there). There some wonderful peacocks there as well.

Parts of the castle tells heartbreaking history of Ghana’s colonial past under slavery. You easily connect with the soul of the Castle when touring it. It still has a bed (well preserved) that was used by Queen Elizabeth.
