The place has a nice tour guide who is happy to show you around and explain everything in detail. The money for the tour is donated to the school and its local projects. The fishing village is full of friendly, nice people. Had a great time there and recommend a visit to anyone who wants to learn more about the history and life of the people in Ghana.

Visiting Jamestown has been on my list of things to do for a long time. It was everything and more than I imagined it would. We stumbled on a visitors information centre and went on an impromptu tour with our tour guide who took us through British, Portuguese and Dutch Jamestown.
Our guide was a well informed resident of Jamestown and among the places he took us were the 1st hotel in Ghana called Sea view hotel. Well, what's remained of it. The Ga settlements, the chief's palace. We got the chance to see the women dry and smoke the fish the men had brought back from sea, even saw a group of men making boats from scratch. It was amazing!
We also visited a well known boxing gym where future world champions trained at.
We interacted with so many amazing people and I think regardless of me being Ga, I would've still connected with these people.
It's a tour worth taking!

This is located in the Jamestown neighborhood of Accra, Ghana. The 28-metre structure was originally built in the 1930s, replacing an earlier lighthouse that had been built in 1871. It consists of a stone tower with lantern and gallery, attached to a keeper's house. Both lighthouse and keeper's house are painted with red and white horizontal bands.Did you know that just around the lighthouse were tunnels which were used in transporting slaves to the James Fort n the likes.

Jamestown, still is the way it has been all this time,
Tradition is still deep rooted in the people,
Their characters have not change over time like how other communities have.
Their buildings are still what it was from time.
Less renovations.
indigenous food is cheap,
The women like alcohol and carnivals, they love partying

Excellent landmark in a lovely neighborhood worth to experience - during a day! Photographers - be aware to arrive in the evening with somebody local you know or trust (taxi driver would be fine). Around sunset place is a bit "uncomfortable". Within 20 seconds of my arrival I was surrounded by "certified" local photographers who were claiming to have the rights for photographing with tourists and very loudly arguing, that Lighthouse can be photographed ONLY with a special government issued certificate (yeah, right!) After several banknotes were exchanged, this has not been case anymore. But honestly, I have traveled many places alone, and this is not a place I want to be alone in the evening. So again - plan your trip during a day or come with somebody you know. Truly beautiful place!

Historically, right opposite the light house is SEA VIEW HOTEL the first ever hotel in Ghana which has hosted the Queen of England Queen Elizabeth, has now been brought down, in rebuilding of a church which i think is not right in my opinion. Apart from that JAMES TOWN BRITISH ACCRA is really fun in tourism having both JAMES FORT AND USHER FORT on same stretch and beyond 🍻

Cannot enter lighthouse and it’s not set up as a “tourist destination”. Talk to the guys who hang out there to take you on a tour through Jamestown. They are very knowledgeable and really nice.

After I got to the lighthouse, I sat on a rock at the beach. The warmth of the sun and the cold breeze made for a perfect temperature. Sat still for some time. It is a beautiful place to visit

This place is a major landmark in the country and also severs as a tourist attraction to the outside world. It is located James Town in the heart of the capital of the country. Very easy to locate and all roads around there are good. It's a place I will love to go any day and anytime.
The people living around the place are predominantly Ga and speaks the Ga language, the Major work among the people is fishing, the men most do the fishing on the sea while the women sells the fish in the markets.
Boxing is the most patronized sport in area, and has produced some World Champions.

Iconic monument on the coast of Ghana's capital precisely Jamestown one of the ancient settlement of the whites during slave trade. Now a tourist site. The lighthouse's iconic nature has jamestown really a popular place and its unique red and white painting make its stand out. Jamestown is predominantly known to be a fishing community the fish and the women sell.
Its a tourist destination any fun loving person would love to visit trust me
