Stayed for one night. The room was spacious. The bed was comfortable. The shower was excellent. The best part were the staff, welcoming and chatty. Had a great craic at the hotel bar where we also had dinner. Decent pub fare: fish and chips, vegetable hotpot.

The building itself is one of those grand Victorian-era hotels and is currently being renovated.

For the price we paid we reckon it was great value and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Stayed for one night after spending the day walking up Ben Lomond. From the moment we arrived to when we left the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was lovely - spacious and clean with a nice view of the hills behind the hotel. Next time we may treat ourselves to a loch view. We ate in the restaurant and the food was wonderful - one of the nicest meals we have had in a while, then enjoyed the rest of the evening relaxing in the bar. After a comfortable night the breakfast was delicious being able to select from cereals, porridge and a full hot Scottish breakfast. Many thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome. I'm sure we will be back.

Only stayed for one night.had evening meal which was lovely. The staff were great, really took time out to make you feel welcome. Breakfast was a little disappointing but still, there was enough to satisfy.
Our room was a twin and didn't have the best view but the place was clean and comfortable.
The best part was the entertainment, Guy called Colin.. didn't get his surname, had us in stitches and had a great voice.

A beautiful hotel next to the Loch which you cross the road to book a cruise. The hotel is going through a major upgrade. But don't let that spoil your stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is piping hot also there is a good selection of food to choose from. The restaurant is very nice and modern. At breakfast, there is an abundance of things to choose from. Our room had been decorated with nice furniture. White bedding and towels with a hot shower. The entrance and staircase look amazing.

Stayed for one night. Had a lovely twin room looking over the hills. Fish n chips for evening meal was lovely and Angela Duncan the live entertainment was fab. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here for my mums 82nd birthday. Only downside was the lift out of service. Luckily my mum could make it with the stairs to the 2nd floor. Maybe an idea to let guests know the lift out of order when booking and not just finding out when you arrive as it could have been a major problem. Lovely staff. Stunning views. Cross the road and you are on the loch. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Beautiful hotel, stunning location over looking Loch Lomond.
Staff were super helpful and friendly, especially Lesley on reception and Anthony in the dining room and head of maintenance. Didn't catch anyone elses names but they were all so helpful too.
We definitely hope to be back.

The staff were very helpful. They were all very pleasant and went out of their way to help. The room was dated but very comfy. Only 4 channels on the TV, which was disappointing. Out of the main door and across the road and we were on the edge of Loch Lomond. Lovely location, couldn't have been any closer........The meals were served at the table and arrived nice and hot, and tasty.....

I've stayed there for the night just recently and not quite sure what others are complaining about. Sure, rooms could use some fresh paint, carpets could get changed but overall it's still ok. Nothing more or less I would expect for this price.
Staff is very polite and friendly, breakfast decent and bed comfy and clean. It was a pleasant night and I did enjoy it.

Our meal in the restaurant for our dinner was great.
My steak with whisky sauce was absolutely delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly to my wishes and the sauce was so yummy.
My wife's pizza she really enjoyed and was a very large pizza for one person.
They tried there best with service but seemed short staff though to her credit the bar girl ably assisted.
The waiter decided to give me my bill rather than ask if we would like a dessert, quite strange.
The food was great though.

Excellent value. Food was lovely. Staff were great. Room clean and comfortable. Stayed from Christmas Eve to day after boxing day. Only complaint there were only 4 tv channels and three of them didn't work but was very pleasantly surprised having read other reviews.Lovely Christmas break

My family and I stayed at the Tarbet Hotel for two nights for the first time last week and it was an excellent stay. I was slightly concerned initially as I read some of the critical reviews posted here, but was confident in my choice due to the location and numerous other well-detailed good reviews from folks who regularly contribute to Google reviews.

We arrived on a Scotrail train at the Arrochar Tarbet station. Unbeknownst to me, there is no taxi service in this area. Fortunately, we had wheeled luggage and are not adverse to exercise. A very helpful and kind tourist we met at the station from Amsterdam and happened to be staying at the Tarbet Hotel, walked with us. It is a .08 mile walk from the station to the hotel (slightly downhill toward the hotel; uphill toward the station). Upon arrival to the hotel, we were in awe. The beautiful front hotel exterior was equally as stunning in person - very well-maintained outdoor sitting area and greenery. The hotel lobby and lounge/bar area was equally beautiful. We were greeted promptly by a young lady at the lobby reception desk, who was very friendly and accommodating to our questions throughout our visit. Our family reserved two rooms, both of which were clean, spacious, and had beautiful views of Loch Lomond - which was the main reason for our visit. Our bed was comfortable and clean, with ample space on our bedside tables. The room also had a table and seating for two, a coffee/tea brewing station, and console table. There was ample space in the room's armoire for hanging clothing and shelves for folded clothes and other items. There was a wall-mounted TV for our viewing pleasure. Our bathroom was small, but very clean, modern, and fulfilled its purpose. Permanently affixed liquid soap dispensers were provided in the shower (a combination of hair and body shampoo) and at the sink area. While I packed my own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, I found the hotel's option very cost-efficient and eco-friendly. There was a towel warmer affixed to the wall, which is probably a great asset in the colder months. While I was concerned there was no air-conditioning nor ceiling fan, the room didn't need it. We kept the window opened and enjoyed the nice, cool evening temperatures and the sound of gentle rain.

We enjoyed our evening dinner in the restaurant, which was simple. The restaurant manager was very sweet and accommodating, as was our young waiter. We simply ordered dinner entrees and beverages, and they were good. Nothing fancy. The breakfast buffet was very good as well, with simple meal choices. The hotel bar was spacious with various seating options, which appealed to guests for relaxing, conversation, drinks, and even reading.

We were located across the street from Loch Lomond and took advantage of a guided boat trip offered by Cruise Loch Lomond. In the evenings, we walked around the loch and on the pier. We were also walking distance from Slanj Restaurant, which is located in a former church and has a delicious menu for lunch and dinner and a bar menu with local options as well.

The hotel was a wonderful visit, in my opinion. It's an adults and pets-only lodging; no children are allowed, which I feel significantly contributed to the overall peace and tranquility. We learned that this hotel, like the rest of the world, closed during the COVID pandemic and has been gently reopening to travelers. If you are demanding traveler accustomed to 5-star chain hotels in major cities, this may not be the place for you. For those of you who enjoy traveling off the beaten path with an open mind and embracing simplicity while taking in nature and an area's history, this is the place for you. This hotel structure has a 250-year history in Tarbet as a resting place for travelers - prior to that, this precise location was known as a coaching inn since the 16th century. Indeed, this hotel has been beautifully maintained so far and with its new ownership, I imagine it will be well-preserved for many years to come.
