First visit to Balmakewan Farm Shop & Tea Room and I was not disappointed. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Good choice of menu, some of which you would not normally associate with this type of establishment. Our food came out quickly and was of a very high quality, which we thoroughly enjoyed basking in the sunshine in the outdoor area.
This is one place that we will most definitely be going back to.

What a great find! We were on the way back from Aberdeen when we passed a sign for a farm shop and cafe. After traveling down a long farm road, we were pleasantly surprised to find a *beautiful* shop and cafe.
The staff were so friendly and attentive, and the food: outstanding! A great selection that's difficult to choose from as everything sounds so good and honestly tastes even better than it sounds 😋 Our food was so good, we went to the shop to buy some pies, sausage rolls and banana bread for home!
Can't wait to be passing again as this is a "must stop here" kind of place!

Farm dining at the best. We were having our holiday in Fettercairn and a friend recommended Balmakewan Farm Shop and Tea Room.

It’s a beautifully built Farm Shop and Restaurant. Beautiful interiors and the staff was super friendly.

Even though the food choices was limited, the food was fresh and delicious.

We had Haddock and Pea Pasta, Burgers and Shakes.. Truly a hidden gem and will go back again..

Venison is the specialty of the house, and roast venison has no smell. The seafood is fresh and inexpensive. The waiter's attitude is very good. Breakfast is from 10 to 12 and lunch starts at 12. You can park your car, and you can see their own deer right next to the restaurant. Very nice place, recommended to drive there.

Balmakewan is always a delight to experience, the warm welcome, delicious food, the wee deli through bye, the service is always first class, even when busy, busy.
My families personal favourites are the "Haggis bon bons" from the deli, put them in the airfryer to crisp them up. Mmm, delightful!

Finally visited, having passed the sign on numerous occasions and observed that we really should stop one day, and it did not disappoint.
Just a short distance off the A90, so quite convenient, the drive down is a little rough, but not problematic.
The building is lovely and it is really welcoming as were the staff. We sat at the really large table in the main body of the building with other customers and really liked it, there was a really nice comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. There were two other seating areas downstairs and some more seating upstairs, which we didn't see.
The menu had a good choice with something to suit most people. The food was well presented, fresh, hot and delicious and we were all very happy and enjoyed our lunch. It is a little bit pricey, but I don't feel it was bad value.
Look forward to visiting again.

Stopped for a little afternoon tea with my daughter. The coffee and hot chocolate were excellent and the custard cream and tray bake were amazing!
Really lovely atmosphere. Could happily sit there all day. Hopefully next time we will come back for lunch and have one of the interesting choices off the menu.
The shop items were all rally nice as well.

Great place. Food tastes and homemade unlike other joints with bought in rubbish. Great coffee. Good service and a nice bolted on farm shop with cheeses, wines, beer etc. The overall site is great too.

Picked up some coffee here on the way to our holiday home, along with some freshly made salad items and pastries.
Coffee was great and the food was well priced and clearly home made. Very tasty!
Lovely building too with a nice bit to sit out the back.

Had the best battered haddock(fish and chips) in Scotland! Very quaint place just off the A-90 on our last day in Scotland. They also have a nice market where we got some cheese, fish pie and Scottish egg.

We ordered the meatloaf and the linguine both of which were superb, full of flavour and beautifully presented. We finished our meal with coffees and an empire biscuit and the Victoria sponge (best I've ever had). Great Service, lovely staff. This feels like a hidden gem so please take time to visit, you won't be sorry. (maybe book in advance if you can though).
