Center Gravity

It has been a while since I had my car attended to by the team at Centre of Gravity. I was warmly welcomed as if I had only been in last week not 2015!. The advice I was originally given was absolutely spot on. I have just had some significant work done to the car and so the geometry needed checking. Fortunately, only minor adjustments needed , so it's good for a late visit to the nurburgring (before it closes) and the Swiss Alps next week, then back home to Spain.

Chris, Pete and Holly clearly love what they do and this shows in the quality of their work and professionalism. They also want the client to understand and get involved with the process. I had brought some work to do during my 2 hours visit, it didn't get touched!

Any business that has been trading for 18+ years has to be doing something right. Please keep up the fantastic work.

I was given a very warm welcome by the team. The advice given by Pete was spot on. In the end less work was required on the suspension then was anticipated.
Clearly, the team are very passionate about what they do.
I was given a room to do my work and had an amazing breakfast in the nearby Holly Lane Cafe which kept me going all day.

For a driving enthusiast, a day out to visit Chris, Pete and Holly is a special day. Today was my 3rd, and this time with a superb 997 GTS recently acquired from a leading independent. It drives very well, but having been twice previously I knew it could be set up to behave exactly the way I want it to. Some adjustments to toe, camber and it’s no longer twitchy and the ride is settled. It might sound simple, but you’re paying for decades and decades of knowledge and experience. Getting a CG set up is a must have for my cars. Fabulous people running a fabulous business. Outstanding

I had heard lots of great things about CG via the Porsche enthusiast community and took the plunge. I didn't think the handling was as good as it should be given that my car is a 996 and despite the fact that I had already invested significant amounts of money in new chassis parts and a set of Bilstein B16s.
To book I just emailed and got a speedy and friendly response from Holly. I booked about 8 weeks in advance because I knew they would be busy. I received a quote and breakdown of what work was anticipated and she told me that they would be in touch nearer the time to reconfirm which they did. Holly was brilliant and patient with me because I had loads of silly and geeky questions.
I arrived on the day at 8.30 to be welcomed by Pete and shown to their waiting room and we discussed what I was looking to achieve. You can see everything from the waiting room and you are regularly updated and consulted at every stage. I can't believe how hard they work on their customers cars. Pete must have test driven my car about 5 or 6 times! I wont spoil the fun by giving you too much detail of what is actually done. But suffice to say they will get it spot on right for you.
My car is night and day different.
Don't hesitate. Just book it. Quickly before they get too busy and you end up on a 2 year waiting list!

Last week I had a suspension refresh on my 996 turbo at Center Gravity.

I think I will run out of superlatives and cliches such as “the difference is like night and day”, “goes around corners like it is on rails” etc. etc.

First of all I would like to say how friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable the guys at CG are (Holly, Pete and Chris). Pete worked on my car and even managed to sort out some other mechanical gremlins that had been bugging me for a long time. His attention to detail is second to none and he involved me in every stage of the work. I was free to look over his shoulder and take pictures whenever I wanted. I was asked how exactly I would like the setup to be and many test drives were performed until this was perfected. The weather was appalling and so I couldn’t carry out any high speed testing until I got back.

After thorough testing I can safely say that the car is absolutely amazing now and so confidence inspiring. All clanks, clatters and crashes that I assumed were just the character of a 22 year old car, have gone. The CGGT kit that I chose is perfectly matched to our dreadful roads. Undulations and potholes are dealt with by the suspension without the car’s trajectory being altered. I asked for a fast road setup and damping for UK country lanes.

Well done Center Gravity! I can highly recommend their work and particularly the CGGT kit.

What can I say other than Fantastic. Holly, Chris and Pete are great. First class service from arrival to departure. Everything I wanted and more. Took car there with strange banging noise and kept with a silent dream. Chris worked through everything meticulously until the problem was solved. No where else to go for me ever I will use there services now everytime.
Also just want to say they make you feel like a part of the family and like you have known them for years.

Booked my 911 C2S into Centre Gravity and met Pete Leason there - not thinking there was much he could do to improve the way my car drove.

I wanted peace of mind having purchased a 13 year old car to know the suspension and its set up was OK.

Having spent the afternoon there being part of the testing and seeing first hand the thoroughness of the work, then driving the car it did achieve a transformation in the handling.

Highly recommended.

Awesome in every way: friendly, professiona,l knowlegeable, organised and super helpful. Transformed my Tesla 3 doing a very thorough job very quickly. I had to wait a while to get a slot but it was so worth it.

Set up of my GT4 went from being a handful down B roads to a more sedate ride. Car was set up just before my trip to the Alps. The car performed great and the handling gave such a huge confidence boost on the mountain passes and covering ground across 7 countries.

Wow. What a difference. Chris was brilliant in sorting out the handling of my car. The difference is night and day. I'm now completely confident in how the car handles, behaves and am enjoying the poise and balance so much more THANKS 10/10

These guys are awesome , your Porsche will never be the best it can be until you take your car to the centre of gravity for suspension setup and geo , I have had a few cars here now and it amazes me every time how much better the car is when I get it back, 10/10

I can't thank Pete enough as the work he's done to my 997.2 has transformed the way it drives. I know that sounds ridiculous and as a reader I would be skeptical too, but the difference is quite amazing.

In my ownership, I've had the car's geometry set twice to Porsche's specifications (following remedial work to dampers and coolant pipes). Over bumpier B roads, it used to feel twitchy never instilling any confidence, and I just thought that was how a 911 handled.

Following CG's methodical approach, the car was test driven, the behaviour then recorded and alignment checked to validate the behaviour. I had a suspected worn suspension component which Pete proved and the pair of arms were replaced. Once all other the components were checked and deemed healthy, we sat down with a cup of tea to talk about of the type of driving I was expecting to do in the car.

Once agreed on the setup, the geometry was applied to the car and everything was torqued up. It was then back out on the road to check the settings and handover.

The shock came when driving down a bit of B road, I looked at the speedo and honestly thought it was misreading. The ride was so compliant that it felt like we were travelling 20mph slower.

Echoing other owners, it's been the best money I've spent on 'sorting' the car.

After many hours of work, testing, measuring and adjusting, the drive home was fabulous.

Recommended without hesitation. Only downside is arguably a relatively long lead-time on bookings. But worth it.

Chris & Pete are masters of suspension, car set up and alignment. They definitely satisfy my OCD - seeking the perfect drive.

I'm so pleased with the work that Pete did on my wifes 2019 Ford Galaxy. From initially speaking with Holly on reception I knew I'd found the right place to rectify our cars poor alignment. On the day I was treated like any other GT3 owning paying customer with test drives to ascertain the issue(s), great feedback and involvement and ultimately a completely transformational result. Not only does our 26k mile car now glide much better down the road with the steering wheel in the straight ahead, its real world MPG has actually improved too as its no longer dragging double digit toe in on one of its rear wheels around. Steering has a more natural 'self centring' feel too. Thanks so much to you all there, glad the place exists and absolutely as good as the other reviews state. I'm delighted with it...and Pete, I'd love to say my wife noticed...

Several friends have recommended Center Gravity so I took my TVR Tuscan in. I can’t express how much the car has been transformed giving me so much more confidence on the road/track. Chris patiently listened to what I wanted from the car and was thorough in analysing the issues. Stayed in touch to keep me updated with his findings and even provided a courtesy car.
It really was worth every penny and can’t praise these guys enough!

True perfectionists. I travel a 3 hour round trip to see these guys regularly with all my personal cars and whenever we have a client request. I have found no where which comes even close to delivering the such perfect chassis tuning (tracking is just the tip of it). Every car I’ve taken has been transformed to be an utter pleasure to drive afterwards. Pete and Chris listen to what type of set up you are after and deliver this ensuring you’re completely happy before leaving.

Today was the first time I had been to Center Gravity and the experience certainly matched that of other reviewers. A really nice team on duty today as Pete and Holly welcomed me to the world of suspension problems --- and how to fix them. A well engineered business that is meticulous in its approach to solving suspension issues. An experience not to be missed.

My 992 Touring has just been to CG. They have worked on my 964 for me previously and transformed the drive and comfort experience.
I booked the 992 Touring in a few months ago and Chris and Pete told me to get some miles on it before bringing it in to allow suspension settle. I couldn’t personally feel anything too wrong with the car other than a bit too firm/bouncy at low speeds up to 40 MPH.
They have already worked on about 15 992 GT3/Touring and have collated data on every car.
After a very informative test drive with Chris, they got the car on the ramp and adjusted the geometry and changed the front and rear anti roll bar settings.
My car with 1200 careful miles was slightly out of factory geometry settings but nothing drastic.
The drive home was mainly motorway so hard to get a good impression on the suspension tweaks. Since having the car home and driving on familiar roads for 150 miles I can say that the ride quality is so much more compliant and the steering wheel no longer gets pulled when the road surface is very uneven. It has made the whole car more relaxing to drive with almost no noticeable different in body roll when cornering hard. It is now perfect for my road use.
For info my car runs on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 which are known to have firm sidewalls. I was getting ready to change them for a softer tyre like a P Zero, but I can honestly say I now have no desire/need to change them for a softer tyre, so CG have actually saved me money!
I can’t recommend them highly enough and Chris, Pete and Holly are lovely people to deal with.
