Lovely pub with a warm welcome and a great guy behind the bar, very friendly, lovely atmosphere and very reasonably priced. We always meet up here for our family get togethers. Highly recommended

First came here in the late 1970's. Always been a gem of a Marston's pub. Thus having a great pint of Pedigree. Famous for the lunchtime cheese and pate selection. In the old days the massive cheeses were displayed on the bar and cut to order. Carried in and out from upstairs every lunchtime. Doggie bags a must due to the amount of cheese, pate, bread and pickles. Despite a fire the pub is little changed.( The Music Hall posters did not survive.) Still do cheese but portioned. £7.50 for choice of three..cheese/pate, bread and pickles. Still great value. TV for sport. Lots of locals.

A Great Traditional Non Pretentious Pub. Great Selection Of Beers & Lager. Friendly Bar Staff. Sit out on a lovely sunny Day and Enjoy a good Pint at a very reasonable price.

My dog was nervous of going in on a Saturday night (busy, costumes, stags does etc) but the landlord came out and welcomed our beagle and gave us a drink, gratis, wow such nice people, favour will be returned 😃

Proper friendly local. Landlord/Barman really friendly. Cheap well kept beers. Lots of screens for the footy. Very welcoming. I'll be back.

Pub under New Management and work being done, new heaters today and benches tomorrow, with the famous cheese and pate being brought back next month. Management and staff giving regular updates on improvements. Glad to see this pub being made great again as it wained for a while. Look forward to some great nights in here again.

Quite easily the best run pub in Didsbury. Top notch proper attentive bar staff reflect the super high standards of the landlord and lady. Then there's the great value for money with constantly well kept beer in a lovely, friendly and always spotless environment. Do not visit Didsbury without having a drink in The Royal Oak. The standard by which all pubs should be run......

Absolutely wonderful friendly pub

Great place for a nice beer, Great prices for didsbury and nice to see the ace busy again the cleaners do a great job the place is looking clean and nice to see money is getting spent on the building with new benches and heaters put up outside. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Best pub in Didsbury best Landlord and Landlady and friendly staff and beer is well kept and line’s cleaned and cheaper than most pubs with proper people who you can talk to of all ages , Sky Sports BT always on all sports.
Lots of young people and students as well as us old duffers , a very sociable pub without doubt one of the best in Manchester.

Good pub great atmosphere

It's just a good, old fashioned style, pub! Beer is reasonably priced - the Banks Bitter is less than £3 I think. And the bar staff are good too.

This has always been one of my favourite pubs in Manchester. Always has a selection of nice ales at very very reasonable prices. Avoids the cliche chic market that is popular in didsbury for a much more enjoyable tradition pub setting. I would thoroughly recommend especially to ale drinkers!
