Camping La Cigale

Super wee campsite. Nothing fancy, but very clean and very convenient. Showers, toilets, swimming pool, bar and a stone's throw from the towns restaurants and cafes. Nice and quiet, and very clean and well maintained. The owner is a lovely man, who along with the other staff, has great English. Dogs are more than welcome.

Loved it here. Cosy, friendly, clean, welcoming, great pool especially when it was 41 degrees. Shaded and open pitches on grass. Short walk to village. Used bikes to get to the beach and oyster restaurants/fishing huts and nature reserve. Great cycling area. WiFi free on camp. Bar. Great restaurant outside camp too. Stayed 4 nights then booked another 3. ACSI prices until end of June. A family run site that is now one of our favourites for a relaxing friendly stay.

Lovely campsite situated close to the town, the restaurant right outside the campsite served nice food and the family were lovely people. The facilities were very clean and the pool looked lovely. The WiFi is by the reception but if you have a pitch close enough to it you can still get the WiFi. The only bad thing about the campsite was that the sink sprays out water very fast and you have to keep pressing down the tap to get out water but other than that the campsite is perfect.

We have visited about 13 campings in France this summer and we liked many of them the but this was our #1 it's wonderfully groomed, has familiar atmosphere, it's super clean. There was a small but very well equipped playground and lillte football pitch (both enjoyed by our little son). The swimming pools are also small but clean and not crowded (you can find a free deckchair at any time. Camping provides things like hairdryer, washing machine or iron (super useful if you travel with basic equipment only) but what we haven't found anywhere else was the idea of arranging a common spot with sofas and sockets next to it. Once again - if you don't have a camper with electricity you need to charge your phone and no one likes to do it in a bathroom.
This is a great place for families with small children. You feel very safe there. The restaurant on the camping was nice but serves mostly pizza. If you want to eat local specialities like oysters you will enjoy the other restaurant, just in front of the camping. There is no direct access to any beach but the price is fairly low as well. We hope to come again!

Excellent clean site with good size pitches. All staff friendly and made us feel very welcome. Young lady multilingual receptionist particular helpful and explained an excellent way to travel to and enjoy the beautiful city of Bordeaux.

The family were very welcoming and accommodating to all the Welsh fans travelling over for the euros. Organised a coach to and from Bordeaux which saved a lot of hassle for fans. Town of Ares is quite quiet but we had a great time. Cabin we stayed in was also ideal for us, well kept and tidy. Highly recommend 5*

Man. The guy from reception is the man! He waited for us untill 23:30 because we were stucked in traffic jam. When we arrived he was kind and polite. The place was great. Nice and clean showers, toilets.. just everything. There were pool too. We had great time there and when we were cooking we used their herbs from their pots! And the best thing at the end.. we were four people.. two tents and one car for 25€/night? Just great! And we didnt had to checkout in certain time.. we just left when it was comfortable for us. Ill be happy to come back there someday!

Really great campsite, well run with good food and drinks from the onsite bar and restaurant. 2 nice pools and a short walk/cycle into Ares to get groceries and food if needed. Our children loved it and it is pet friendly also. It benefits from a good mix of nationalities of campers and a good mix between those staying in Tents, Caravans, Camper-vans and the onsite Chalets. It is well laid out into smaller "neighborhoods" and although close to the main road, it is set far enough back for noise not to be an issue - even though our tent was pitched at the closest point within the site. The family look after the site really well and are incredibly helpful - they hold events during the week, with Wine producers and Local Organic Vegitable producers coming to the site. They also hold "get to know each other" sessions and a cracking Bingo Night :)

We never go to the same place twice camping - there is too many places to visit. Arachon Bay and La Cigale made us break this tradition - and we are glad we did. Thank you Marie, Dominique and Bernard!

We have visited this site twice now, and will be returning next year. For us it is brilliant, great pitches for our motorhome, loos and swimming pool very clean and well maintained,. The restaurant is excellent and the town just a short walk away. The real "jewel in the crown" is the family who own and run this site. Mdm Dominique, Ms Bernard, Marie and Pascal are just wonderful people. They make you most welcome and nothing is too much trouble. They are all multilingual, the ladies particularly, and will help you out whenever required. This is also a great central location to explore the Bassin D'Arcachon and Bordeaux is only a cheap, very cheap bus ride away . We can't recommend La Cigale too highly, but be quick to book as this is not a massive site, and gets booked up early.

Would recommend staying here as it's a great location to travel by bike or car to Cap Ferret & Arcachon 😀

Excellent site, wonderful staff available to help the linguistically challenged, lovely swimming pool, pizzas on demand, always clean and tidy. We love visiting when we are anywhere near, the town and local area are really good as well.
