Restaurant Ithurria

Absolutely beautiful and traditional space. Signature traditional dishes like pied de porc and rognons de veau not to be missed. It was a treat to dine here on our first evening!

We went into this lovely place with our group while on an excursion thru the basque countryside. This hotel / restaurant was in the beautiful village of Ainhoa. The drive here was great and the scenery spectacular. The greeting by the staff was warm and inviting and service throughout the meal was very attentive. The multi-course meal was very good as were the wine selections. The restaurant has received a Michelin star, and a special. Note is a letter of acknowledgment from Dwight D. Eisenhower (later President of the United States) as the Supreme Allied Commander of the crucial and significant role the owner of the restaurant had played during WWII assisting the war effort.

Beautifully refined dining! The meal was delicious from start to end. And the staff was top notch. I thought that the maitre d' was especially brilliant. He obviously loves his chosen profession and he does it with such warmth and finesse...Bravo!

This was without a doubt, the best tasting meal of my entire life. (mind you we toured many of the legends in Donostia and visited Azurmendi) My husband and I stumbled on this Michelin Starred restaurant while staying in San Sebastián/Donostia. It is about an hour drive, and a beautiful journey. We called on a weekday and were able to get reservations for an early dinner that evening. We were not prepared for a dinner of this sort and were in hiking gear. Nevertheless the staff graciously welcomed us. Our dinner was around 5pm and being so early we were the only diners for the first hour.

The execution of the meal was impeccable. I have never had fish prepared so beautifully. The service was the highest level, with 4-5 staff dedicated to our table. The flavors were, thoughtful, inventive and beautiful.

The town is tiny, a single street, with cute little shops. We enjoyed walking around and stopped at the single bar on the street.

Comparatively places like Azurmendi are admittedly more inventive, but Ithurria is a fraction of the price tag and a similar level of magical. My husband and I plan to travel back to France solely to visit Ithurria again. This family owned business is a must on your bucket list.

We stayed here two nights during a hiking trip through the Basque Country. What a delightful place run by a delightful family! The rooms are comfortable with a wonderfully large soaking tub. The food is superb. Be sure to ask the family about the letter from General Eisenhower posted in the parlor. The family patriarch did Basque-style "night work" rescuing Allied pilot prisoners in WWII. Great story!

We had a wonderful lunch outside under tree canopy. 5 of us with alcoholic drinks and dessert 90 €. Excellent atmosphere, view, price and service for a Gault et Millot restaurant. I had Langoustine bisque with fish : to die for.. the pork axoa was amazing and the potato gauffre with salmon was also delicious.

Fantastic stay. Beautiful location and the restaurant menu was fabulous. Would definitely return in a heartbeat!

Super séjour en amoureux dans cet hôtel restaurant. Un personnel aux petits soins. Un accueil chaleureux et Une chambre superbe au Calme. Un service au top. Un petit déjeuner magique ! Bref.... Que du bonheur. Tout était parfait.

Cuisine gastronomique, raffinée et inventive, avec des produits locaux de première qualité : foie gras, merlu, feuilleté du jardin exquis....
Compter 80 euros par tête, menu dégustation 100 euros avec un verre de vin, Irouleguy bien sûr!
De nombreux amuses bouches, aux saveurs variées et aux mélanges subtils.

Depuis mon premier séjour à l'âge de 13/14 ans, qui m'avait laissé le souvenir pénible de ce que cela peut être de passer des vacances avec ses parents, mais aussi le souvenir d'avoir (déjà) très bien mangé... puis, plus tard, la période des séjours en couple en demie pension et des souvenirs heureux de la table, de la convivialité de Maritxou, Maurice et déjà Stéphane et Xavier, période révolue désormais. Je retourne avec mon amoureux à qui je tiens à faire découvrir cet endroit, après bien des années d'absence.
Je ne suis pas déçue, et lui non plus ! L'évolution de la maison, tant sur le plan décoration que sur celui des menus, de la carte, du petit déjeuner est superbe : de la modernité, une décoration toujours chaleureuse mais rajeunie, toujours autant de soins et d'amour apportés à la cuisine... Du grand professionnalisme, et de la part de tous, Stéphane, Xavier, Louis et Martin désormais et tout leur équipe. Une institution, sans la poussière !

Nous avons dîner au restaurant étoilé et ce fut une expérience gustative de très grande qualité. La carte fleurissait de produits régionaux tous aussi bien cuisinés les uns que les autres, l’accord mets et vins était de grande qualité pour un rapport qualité prix imbattable pour un restaurant étoilé.
Super expérience, je reviendrai avec plaisir!
