Le Gril Des Barbares

We went here as the lunch part of a day-long chateaux tour. What a great experience. Hidden away downstairs in a quite ordinary shopfront is a medieval vaulted ceiling treasure.

While the a la carte might have been expensive we took advantage of the prix fixe 25 euro lunch.

We expected good food but it was the best meal we had in France. The entire table of 5 agreed on that.

The service from the maitre d', the wait staff and the chefs in the open kitchen just up the stairs was first class. It reminded us that some of the best restaurants in France aren't in Paris but spread throughout.

The meat was tender, the veggies fresh, the dessert beautiful and the beer choices just right.

If I get back to this area when visiting from Australia you can bet I will be going again.

We ordered 1,2kg, it's a good portion for 2 and good quality meat, friendly staff

Such a cool location! Completely unique to eat in a medieval cellar that's been expertly lit and transformed into a grill house. If the barbarians at the gates always eat like this, I'll let them in!

It has a Very unique set up and is straight to the point with the meats.

We spent two weeks touring the Loire and Burgundy. We ate at several Michelin want-to-be restaurants. The Barbarian Grill was by far the best, in terms of quality and value. I was skeptical at first by the large menu, but was wrong to judge it by this. The food was amazing

The flank steak was superb. The scallops St. Jacques my wife had, she loved. I traded her the goat salad, which she thought was goat meat, but instead had a delightful crock of warm goats cheese, for a wonderful tomato and mozzarella salad. The wine was very good and reasonably priced.

Don't miss it.

Stopped in for lunch today and it was fabulous. The service was excellent and the food was fresh. The ambiance was unbelievable. The lighting of the groined ceiling is a must see. Prices are reasonable.

Pour commencer, c'est un lieu divinement BEAU et très atypique.
Quant au repas, nous avons choisi "tentation à deux" pour fêter notre anniversaire de mariage et c'était gastronomique, délicieux, copieux, une vraie douceur pour nos papilles gustatives. Nous avons été choyés par un personnel très agréable et sympathique.
Je ne peux que conseiller fortement ce restaurant. Merci à toute l'équipe pour votre amabilité

Avis aux amateurs de viande, ne cherchez plus voici le paradis. La cuisine y est fantastique meilleur rapport qualité prix sur ce type de cuisine. Grand bravo aux serveurs qui sont géniaux et très efficaces. La cave à vin est géniale et si vous ne vous y connaissez pas n'ayez crainte les serveurs le sont

Cuisine excellente dans un cadre magnifique. Très bon accueil , excellentes suggestions de la part du responsable de l’établissement tant au niveau des plats que pour le choix du vin. Équipe de jeunes serveurs très accueillants et professionnels. Viande de grande qualité . Nous avons passé une soirée très agréable et avons hâte d’y retourner .
