Visited during the holidays. Beautiful place and so much to see. I paid €5 for the entry - children were free - the park is free, you only pay to go in the house. There are free lockers to keep your bulky stuff in. You can take photos without flash.
What I specifically liked was how accessible it was for disabled or less able people. If you have a disabled badge you can park right at the entrance. If you don't, you can drop off at the entrance and go back to park your cars. Completely wheelchair accessible, they have lifts. Also practically all rooms, if not all, at benches or chairs for visitors to sit.
Well worth a visit.

Despite that parts of the castle (inside court & ground floor) is being renovated, it's still a visit I recommend.
Surrounded by a forest, you can go for a stroll or a picnic in a beautiful environment. There is also a great view of the plain.
If you have time, definitely do a tour of the museum. So much to see and learn.
Goes from some beautiful art (painting, sculpture....) to beautiful furniture, dinner sets.
The boat clock is not to be missed. There is a video of it working. How were they able to do this kind of things back then? It's just incredible.

A lovely peaceful scenic place to visit. Full of interesting historical pieces.. A little gift shop. You can walk round the grounds take in the view. Just so relaxing after the hustle n bustle of Paris.

Well kept and charming museum. The staff are polite and welcoming. Entrance is free for anyone 25 and under. There are several floors and rooms to see, so plan your trip accordingly if you like to take your time to view and read the information.

Hidden gem in picturesque suburban Paris village. Shame in my 2nd visit in 10 years many rooms were closed (on a Sunday!) and they threw us out much earlier than closing time.

Fantastic museum to visit! If you're into history/art history this castle providers 3 stories of very interesting, well presented and well documented pieces. Staff is readily available and very nice. I made a daytrip out of Paris out of it - few hours in the museum, a very lovely cup of hot chocolate at the café in the Tourist center, a stroll in the park. The entrance fee is very reasonable too and most importantly - there's no crowds of people like in the musums in central Paris.

Thank you for the French culture immersion !
Quite a beautiful castle and wood domaine to visit !
I recommend !
I just wish that the souvenirs shop were more full of historical reproduction of, Coins, jewelry, armory, swords, crossbows and such !
That would be great !

Nice location and architecture, and a superb 7 piece renaissance tapestry about the story of David and Bathseba, lus a huge collection of arts and craft (jewellery, enamels, glasses) from this period. Fascinating.

The museum of the French Renaissance, was built in XVI century for Anne de Montmorency, the Connétable de France, chief minister and commander of the French army of King Francois I, and then for Henri II. After the visit take a walk around the castle to enjoy the view.

One of the least visited and yet most interesting museums north of Paris. Very diverse collection, well-explained, and a wonderful castle to house it. I have made the trek out there 3 or 4 times and always enjoyed it!

It is very underrated, comparing to most museums in Paris or Loire were the entrances are 11-15 euro, here you can enter with 5 euro and the museum is very rich and interesting . It was the lowest price I found while in France. It stands above the little city Ecouen, so it has a nice view. A huge plus is the restaurant of the museum surrounded by lavander where you can have have a very nice meal for a fair price :)

This museum is a bit of the hidden gem. The collections of French Renaissance art are outstanding and the castle is a remarkably consistent and well preserved example of French Renaissance architecture. I've been there several times and have only ever seen a handful of visitors, plus the occasional group of school kids. If you're only going to see one museum in Paris the Louvre certainly has a larger and more prestigious collection of Renaissance paintings and sculptures while the decorative arts collections are pretty similar. However, if you have an extra day and want to get away from the crowds while also enjoying a stroll in the park I highly recommend this museum. Somewhat surprisingly there is also a very notable collection of Iznik ceramics which we were surprised to stumble upon during our first visit.
