Nuuksio Hostel and Camping

Our stay at Nuuksio Hostel and camping was more than enjoyable. The facilities such as tents, showers and outdoor kitchen were tidy and up to standard. The campsite is easily accessible and not far from Helsinki and the perfect getaway to explore Nuuksio park.

We made daily use of the breakfast that was included, the kitchen to prepare our own meals and the fridge to store our food and drinks. There were also bicycles available which our group used for a quick trip to the grocery store.

My personal favourite was the sauna, fire pit and lapland cabin where Kai's guitar and personal anecdotes kept us warm on colder evenings.
By just calling him our host we don't give him enough credit. He was not only our host but also local guide, storyteller, teacher and at times personal barista. Kai surprises us multiple occasions with authenthic artisanal delicacies such as a hand-picked mushroom dish and homemade mustard.

He taught us how to catch and cook our own fish, went mushroom picking and took us on a beautiful and adventurous canoe trip that was really rewarding. Kai is very helpful and has such a warm and interesting personality. He made sure we had everything we needed to feel right at home. Nothing was too much to ask for. Kai is one of the most authentic people I know, which makes his campsite a special place that takes your holiday to the next level. It was an experience I won't forget soon.

If you want to explore endless Finnish nature through the eyes of a local, and relax to the fullest, this is the campsite for you.

Staying here was the best decision we could have made during our trip to Finland. We used the tents and were provided with everything we needed: matresses, warm and clean sleeping bags, pillows and also cuttlery and cups/plates.

Nuuksio NP is so beautiful and calm, and just around the corner of the camping. The camping has very good facilties: plenty of clean and comfortable toilets and showers, a well equiped outside kitchen, a fireplace, a beautiful Lapland hut, etc.

But what really makes this place special is Kai, he is the kindest host you could wish for, really going the extra mile to make your stay unforgettable. Anything you need, just ask him and he will help you out, always with a smile on his face! 100% would recommend staying at his place.

My partner and I visited Nuuksio for one night and stayed in one of the cottages. The perfect place to stay in the middle of nature - we loved the whole camp site! The bath rooms and beds are good; basic, yet decent breakfast is included, as well as bikes. Unfortunately, we had such short stay so we didn't get the chance to go cycling and neither use the great outdoor kitchen to cook a meal, nor the sauna. Kai is such a lovely host, he welcomed us very warmly and we had a comfy afternoon on the porch, playing guitar, singing and having tea!
We definitely want to come back and stay longer next time!

We had two amazing days at the campsite. Kai is incredibly friendly and personal. He knows a lot about Helsinki (30 min drive) + surroundings and loves nature. This is something you can see in the way he manages the campsite + hostel. The garden is beautiful and there’s fresh herbs to pick. The camping was more expensive than usual (we paid 100 euro’s for two nights, 25.- pp pn), but if you look for personal, small scale and charm than it’s more than worth it.

I had a lovely stay at Nuuksio Hostel & Camping. It is close to Helsinki and still completely in nature and country side. National park is right next to it and we went to have some nice swims in the near by lakes. Kai is very friendly and he made as amazing breakfast. We also met the old labradorian dog who lives next door. She came to visit us and she is adorable. I will defenectly come back. Thank you :)

Nuuksio Hostel and Camping is a wonderful place to relax and connect with nature. It is equipped with all the necessary facilities (toilet, shower, outdoor kitchen), and the host, Kai, is amazing. He helps out wherever he can, is great company, and will even sing and play a little song at the campfire if challenged to do so! The nature is stunning, with vast, wild forests and idyllic lakes. On one of our hiking trips we even found ourselves staring into the furious eyes of a wood grouse defending its territory! A rare sight, our host told us. This place is a must-go for anyone who seeks a proper time-out.

We had a lovely time at the camping. We booked 2 nights in the teepee which was very spacious and comfortable. Kai is very nice and passionate about the little paradise that he has created and so he should be ! It is the perfect place to stay when visiting Nuuksio national park. Hope to come back soon !

Kai (the owner) is an amazing guy and his hostel is fantastic - a real treat if you like simple, off-the-beaten-track facilities like his. He rents out one of his rooms and three tents in his garden, providing you with sleeping bags if you need them. There is an outdoor shower and a biological toilet, but you can also use his toilets inside the house. Kai cooks breakfast for you and, if you like, dinner as well. He's very friendly and a great guy to talk with.

We loved our stay in Kaikuva Camping and Hostel! Our son was amazed with all the fun instruments and surroundings. Me and my husbad loved cot beds in a tent that we rent from kai. It made the night some much more comfortable. This place is for sure worth recommending. Nice location, kind and helpful host and well equipped camp grounds.

What a lovely place to be. A bit different but thats exactly what it makes so special. Spent a nice, super spontaneous night here. Had good company by the owner, lovely fire in a beautiful wooden cabin. Everything you need. I would guess especially for kids it's awesome. So much to explore. Love it. Thank you so much!

Nice and quiet campground. Soft and lush grass made tent camping very comfortable. Kai was a great company to chat with...I had a very enjoyable stay!

Love it or leave it - what you see is what you get. We where totally in love with the simplicity of this place, where there is an easy energy, friendly host and it’s a corner of “true” Finland!

Loved it except for the price

Een onvergetelijke ervaring! Als je wil herbronnen in de natuur en in contact wil komen met de Finse cultuur, dan ben je hier aan het juiste adres. De gastheer laat je onmiddellijk thuis voelen op deze plek en zorgt ervoor dat je alles hebt wat nodig is om je verblijf aangenaam te maken. De camping is voorzien van een goed sanitair, een uitgebreide keuken en comfortabele tenten. 's Avonds kun je relaxen rond het kampvuur of in de Lapland hut.

Nuuksio ist ein toller Platz, kurz vor Helsinki.
Es gibt 2 Cottages und viel Platz für Zelte , eine Außenküche und auch Geschirr ist vorhanden.
Kai ist ein ganz netter Gastgeber, der alle Wünsche um den Aufenthalt zu einem Erlebnis zu machen, zu erfüllen versucht .
Nach Helsinki ist es ca 30 min .

Van aankomst tot de laatste minuut voor vertrek: alles was pico bello in orde op deze camping!

Alles was voorzien om er een gezellige trip van te maken. Tenten reeds opgezet, schone slaapzakken en hoofdkussens ter beschikking, ontbijt, knusse buitenkeuken (inclusief ruime koelkast, potten, borden, bestek,…), hygiënisch en ruim sanitair, plaats voor een kampvuur en zelfs een Lapland-hut!

Wat de reis echt onvergetelijk maakte, was onze gastheer Kai! Van ‘s morgens tot ‘s avonds was hij bereid om je met alles te helpen. Daarbovenop was hij ook onze lokale gids en leerde hij ons de Finse cultuur kennen. We gingen vissen, hiken, kanoën, paddenstoelen plukken en leerden zelfs koffie maken op de Finse manier ☕.

Kiitos Kai voor de geweldige ervaring op jouw camping. Hopelijk kan ik ooit nog eens terugkomen! 👏🏻

Der Besitzer Kai ist ein Ehrenmann! Er tut alles dafür, dass sich seine Gäste bei ihm wohlfühlen und gibt die besten Geheimtipps für Aktivitäten rund um den Campingplatz. Sein Charme und Humor geben dem Ort eine besondere Aura, man sollte sich dies auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen. Die Ausstattung ist auch super: warme Duschen, Lagerfeuerhütte, Sommerküche, Hüttchen bei Bedarf anzumieten.
