Arctic Museum Nanoq

This museum is very interesting to understand well the arctic pioneer. Several replicas or chalets, rustic houses and of the northern church in the world with inside all the furniture and accessories from a century ago:: Amazing !

It is a hidden treasure in Pietarsaari, west coast of Finland You can feel the passion for Polar Bear (Nanoq) and Greenland in the founder and his volunteers of this museum. You have to park your car at the designated visitors parking lot. The entrance fee is 10€ per head for an adult. Recommended! Worth to go!

Thoroughly enjoyed this exhibit of how several Arctic peoples live, and also Finish history, including the Winter War. Knowledge docents, some of which speak English. Structures were built by volunteers, started by one man whom has visited Northern Greenland 5 times.

We recently had the most incredible experience at Arctic Museum Nanoq in Finland, founded by Pentti Kronqvist.From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the enchanting world of the Arctic and its mesmerizing beauty.

What made our visit truly exceptional was the opportunity to meet Pentti Kronqvist, the founder of the museum, who graciously took the time to personally guide us through the exhibits. His passion for the Arctic and dedication to preserving its rich cultural heritage shone through in every word and gesture. It was a privilege to learn from someone so deeply connected to the museum's mission.

Arctic Museum Nanoq itself is a treasure trove of knowledge, art, and artifacts that vividly portray the Arctic's history and the lives of its inhabitants. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, providing a comprehensive and immersive experience.

The attention to detail in Arctic Museum Nanoq is truly commendable. Each exhibit is accompanied by informative descriptions, engaging audiovisual presentations, and interactive elements that allowed us to further explore and understand the Arctic ecosystem.

Five stars don't do justice to the magnificence of Arctic Museum Nanoq. It deserves all the praise and recognition it receives.

Very good

Extremely well executed and also very educational. The buildings look interesting both from the inside and the outside. The museum has received many impressve donations from various explorers. We could have easily spent more time there but sadly we arrived late and only had 1 hour. There are also organised activities for younger and older kids with rewards. I recommend the museum to everyone!

What a special museum! It was time well spent at Nanoq. I was lucky enough the employees were very thoughtful and guided me in English around the property. There are so many unique spiritual, cultural and historical artifacts in this tucked away treasure of a museum. I loved how the staff actually explained the stories behind the creator Pentti Kronqvist. There was rich history inside of this museum. Ask to see the little houses around the property while you are there. The church even holds weddings inside of it. There is one room with paintings that is worth viewing. Interesting to acquint with artifacts from the expeditions to the Artic and the people involved in the rescues at that time.

I have studied arctic social-cult.anthropology, so for me this museum was very interesting place, there was so much information that it almost exhausted us. We did'nt know anything about this museum, but the Jakobstad's turist information had advertisments about it. It was very very impressing!

Awesome place to visit with very friendly staff! Everyone can find something interesting, from beautiful paintings to fascinating foundings from Arctic expeditions and, of course, wonderful nature around.

Loved the small enchanting place . Exciting stories of the so kind owner that show us around although the museum was closed, and Bono his friendly Dog...thanks!
