Askolan hiidenkirnut/ The potholes of Askola

Never been here before. I always thought that there are just couple of holes on the ground. But yes and no, these holes are worth of seeing, the powers of nature and time. And these holes are even noticeable globally.

When you reach the junction with a sign showing both ways with arrows, take right for a nice walk around the hill before reaching the potholes. If you take the left, then you'll reach the potholes first.

Very nice place for the curious. Make mobilepay app ready on your phone in advance otherwise payment can be difficult. Adults 2€, children 1€ and family 4€.

I have never seen these potholes: look interesting I got quite excited about the age and the way the potholes were formed 10,000 years ago

Beautiful walk in nature and extraordinary collection of these weird holes in the ground drilled by rocks during long periods in time. Must visit if you're for example going from Helsinki to Porvoo with a car for a holiday trip. I have only visited this when there's no snow.

Big round holes in the ground. Awesome nature trail nearby. All in 300-400 m from parking lot. Elevation difference about 20-30 m. Cool place.

The miracles of nature, definitely worth visiting!

Definitely a place worth visiting. A lot of stairs and difficult terrain. Not suitable for small children or the disabled.

If you need real peace u need to go there real place there is grilli place and some place to put trush and u can enjoy with natural.

A unique site. Slightly challenging walk, but so worth it.

Bit hard to reach with motorcycle gears on, but worth for sure.

Sattumalta pysähdyimme tutkailemaan ja olikin aivan mahtava paikka kalliopolkuineen ja hiidenkirnuineen. Kallioreitin varrella hyvät maisemat välillä ja kirnuja oli monen kokoisia, jossakin oli pyöreä hierinkivi vielä pohjalla. Suosittelen.

Ainutlaatuinen paikka! Ei mitään erityistä, vain luonnon muovaamia kuoppia, jollaisia ei löydy juuri mistään muualta maailmassa.;) Valitettavasti ne sijaitsevat jyrkässä rinteessä, joten täällä vaaditaan terveet jalat ja kohtalainen kunto. Portaat löytyy, mutta paikoitellen täytyy vähän kiipeillä. Suosittelen ottamaan hanskat mukaan ja menemään kuivana päivänä. Myös maisemapolku oli kiinnostava, ja haastava kulkea. Parkkipaikalta portille patikoi melko helposti, mutta kaikki siitä eteenpäin on vaikeaa maastoa, joskin me keski-ikäiset toimistonössöt selvisimme urakasta kunnialla.
