Kizo Lodge

Wonderful gem of a hotel. Staff are all amazing and treat you nice. The food is great, and not just considering how far out this place is, they really do a good job of taking care of you and the dishes are fantastic.

This is one of the best lodge in Turmi area. The Lodge is owned by a local guy and is an excellent place for a night with clean bed rooms and a peaceful compound.

We stayed 5 nights at Kizo and found it quite nice. It is not luxury accommodation, but our double room had two big comfy beds, with good nets, a clean bathroom, and a lot of light and air. It was one of the standard rooms, not a bungalow. The bathroom had a bathtub, which I realized was not a very good idea, given that the area suffers from chronic water shortages and water pressure is low. The shower was fine, much better than what we experienced in some accommodations elsewhere in Ethiopia. Rooms were cleaned daily. On some nights, but not all, we noticed a bug invasion, which came all the way to the door and in the morning all the bugs were dead. They were not mozzies but something else.
The food was just fine. They cook what is available and it was always delicious. I would especially recommend their home-made bread, which was my favorite item, as well as yummy pancakes with coffee for breakfast. Simple and delicious.
The internet was not really working, although the people there tried the hardest they could! When we arrived they were just changing the provider and the connection, and they were on the phone most of the day with some technicians, but it simply refused to work. During our stay it was possible to get weak connection, but it would break frequently. Anyway, the internet and phone connections are a problem all over Ethiopia, so I cannot blame Kizo lodge for that. After a while we realized there were better things to do than uploading photos.

Nice Lodge, nice beds, correct bedroom, water pressure shower needs to improve, restaurant nice/good, price value good. An alternative option at Turmi center.

Das Beste an der Kizo Lodge ist das nette Personal. Joseph, Mengistu und Addis sorgen dafür, dass man sich wohl fühlt. Auch das Restaurantgebäude ist ganz ansprechend. Leider ist das Kizo völlig überteuert (60-90 USD). Angebot und Nachfrage erlauben das wohl. Die Räume sind sehr schlicht und die Sanitärinstallation ist unzureichend. Strom und Internet gibt es nur selten, etwas Wasser immer.

Le lodge est récent, mais bien aménager, il y a un vrai boulot dans l'esthétique extérieure. Cependant, il faudrait former le personnel et aussi mettre une armoire dans les chambres. Les lits sont vraiment confortables. La nourriture est à retravailler, mais le wifi est bon.
