Castell de Polop

Great place to visit. We stayed for one week in the old town, great vibe and atmosphere.

Nice short stop to walk around and have a nice views from the top.

Every time we have driven past this beautiful church and amazing landscape, we had promised to visit it. Today we did and it didn't fail to deliver on every level. What a beautiful church ⛪ cemetery and what absolutely stunning views from the top. The added bonus is the restaurant/cafe within 50 metres of the cemetery and tombs that are on view to the public. A must must visit. If you drive up then be extra careful as the streets are very narrow and the stone walls are very unforgiving on your car 🚗 👍👍👍👍👍

We live in Altea but love visiting Polop. It's well worth going up to the castle ruins (12th century moorish castle) via the so-called way of the Calvary (passing by the stations of the cross) to enjoy amazing views of the surrounding area - green hills and mountains and the sea. Where used to be the castle now is the old cemetery and a garden with flowers. The cemetery was reconstructed only recently by the town hall according to the memoirs of Gabriel Miro (whose statue we will find among the tombs), a famous Spanish writer who visited Polop and the cemetery in the 1920s and wrote about it in his essays.

The most spectacular views, affordable drinks & tasty tapas..

Always a nice place to visit. We have family in the area and have now just purchased an apartment nearby. The walk up from the town will take you past many nice typical Spanish homes. Then up the slope to the castle. There is a nice cafe bar in the grounds which does a good coffee. The views are amazing.

Fantastic views. Quiet village. Be careful not tondrive all the way up as its very narrow and steep. Public carpark near the the main village sqaure. Short walk up to the castell.

Beautiful place but quite a climb up the path to get there

Walked up to the Bar here one evening. Food was ok. Staff were amazing and treated us very well. Beautiful views and a great place to chill for a couple of hours. Would recommend and would visit again myself.

Great views from here. Nice place to visit. There is a steep climb to get there. When you get to the top there is cafe/bar/restaurant where you can eat and drink and enjoy the views.

There is a wonderful view from the top of the castel. And if you want a cup of coffee or something to eat ,don't hesitate to ask Maya, the owner of the little restaurant there. She is very helpful and listens to her customers. The prices are more than reasonable. We were a group of 25 people and went there the first time for a coffee and the day after for a lunch. She asked us what we wanted and prepared it. Everything was very tasty. She is from Georgia, and as some of the members of my group, have already visited her country, we asked Maya to prepare for the lunch Georgian khachapuri, salads and meat. I absolutely recommend the place. And want to thank once again Maya for the special moments she gave us.
